Oh, and one final little tidbit before I go home today!
It's hot down here!
Oooohh wow. That is really good. I love the color, and ... EVERYTHING! Jesus, you've got more done than 90% of the packs that are released. You've got a lot of chutzpah mister, and I like it!
IF he wants to do so, that would come later. For now give him a break, seeing as he has worked so hard on changing the normal textures. I'm not even sure if he's done mobs yet. BE THANKFUL HE MADE ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
But yeah, if he's going to do mod support, random mobs would be a good start.
Hi, I've been following this thread for a few weeks now and I created an account in order to give you some feedback, Santiago. I love what you've done so far, and there are very few things I don't really like as of now, namely :
the blocks on the right of this screenshot, around their junction with the ground, look like they were abruptely cut, as if the texture had been shifted 16px up or downwards - although to moderate my comment, I must say I have no idea what this particular block is supposed to be, as I have never been in the Nether.
the flowing lava, whose "striped" aspect seems to me very different from the "still" lava, the two connecting in hardly a smooth way (from what I can see on this only screenshot).
the stone texture, which looks very detailed and contrasted - doesn't it "scramble" the view from afar ?
That said, be aware that I'm just critiquing out of perfectionism : this texture pack looks amazing, probably the best I've seen so far. I appreciate a lot the work you've put into it ! Could we have more insight, just out of curiosity, about what kind of projects you worked on as a texture artist ?

It's because of the way that the textures for the Nether brick and Nether fence are set up. The details of the texture are placed so that they fit exactly where the textures for the fence are created. I might actually do something similar for the wood planks texture too, but we'll see!

This is because of how there are two different "blocks" for falling lava and stationary lava. I wanted to make the moving lava look distinct and after looking at pictures of how lava falls in real life I decided this would be a fun change of pace. I think it looks pretty good, personally :wink.gif:

Nah, looks like rock! It's a hard texture to do because it has to cover so many types of surfaces and tile in such a large way.

Thank you for the kind words! I hope you enjoy the pack when it comes out!
As for games I've worked on, the two most recent examples where you can see my work are Donkey Kong Country Returns, and before that, Warhammer Online. I've been making games for over 10 years though, so there are quite a few out there now :wink.gif:
For everyone else! I will be working on the pack over the weekend and HOPEFULLY be releasing it by Sunday. But we'll see how progress goes!
This is really nice, and I'm not just saying that either. I'm not really into packs that differ from the regular Minecraft but I might actually consider downloading this when it's released as it looks really refined compared to a lot of packs.
Out of interest, did the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and/or Half Life inspire this at all?
I've always been a fan of post-apoc as a genre. So actually there are a lot of influences here. Half Life definitely inspires me, but so do books and movies like The Road and Mad Max. I hope you enjoy the pack when it comes out!

Genius. Not sure that anyone has thought of that before. (Not that I've seen at least.)

WHAT ? you are one of the artist for donkey kong ? WTF YOU ARE AMAZING for you
This texture pack looks absolutely amazing, I can't wait to download it.
The only thing that annoys me about this texturepack is that the cactus and vines don't seem to fit in with the rest of the pack, it looks like you've abandoned the "alien invasion" theme after making those two textures and moved on to a "life ater invasion" theme.
If you don't change it I'll probably replace the textures with those of some of the other post apocolyptic texture packs. Regardless I'm definitely downloading this texture pack when its released.
Some people make packs that are like an apocalypse that are like dumping you right into the fight. This is great, because it is like the apocalypse is coming, and you have a chance to stop it.
May I suggest adding SDK's gun mod support?
Anywho, this is all i have, but you can take it! you deserve it!

I think he was talking about the soulsand texture :smile.gif:
Okay. As I said, I've never been to the nether, so I don't know those names, but I don't think I can explain better what in my opinion looks wrong. I didn't understand your explanation Santiago, it has to do with the transition between the brick and the fence ? Can you confirm that the "brick" we're talking about is these blocks on the right of the screenshot I linked, the one that have grid-like patterns in their middle ?
Do want. If there was ever a time where I started designing maps, it'd be with this texture pack.
I have to say, I do get a bit of a Fallout feel. It's the the alien textures, they really remind me of some of the goo tiles you'd see in the earlier Fallout games. Because of that, it gives me a sort of feel if the first Fallout games were set in the east instead of the west US.
Also, those ores seem to blend perfectly. They tile with both the stone texture and more of the ore textures, where normally texture packs seem to chose one or the other.

Seriously.. everytime

Bring out this wonderful demonic texture alien pack. Bring it out!

Could you please give us a rough release date?
