Why, hello there my fellow Modern Minecrafters! Are you tired of the default texture pack? Have you tried to find a realistic one but they just don't suit? Then this is the texture pack for you! It's a modern cross real-life texture pack with a delicious 256x256 resolution! Don't understand what this pack is? Then read below! An example is furnaces. Normally they are stone but with Modern Day they become dazzling stainless steel ovens, complete with stove top and lights when activated!
The pack isn't completely finished and still has good amount of work to be done. My laptop can't handle any textures higher than 32x32 and anyone who sends screenshots of the pack in use will be credited and thanked immensely. If you would like to help me with designing and testing, send me a PM. Post any feedback or ideas below and email any media or screenshots to my email at [email protected]
Thanks!

Okay so I have downloaded it, used it, and now I am going to offer my opinion on it. I know it is still being developed, so I think it is actually pretty decent. Anyway, here is my little review, with pictures for each one. You make need to view the full size image to really understand what I am talking about. Feel free to use the pictures, I will include the link so all you have to do is put it in the whole things.
Gravel looks exceptionally bad when seen from anywhere more then a few blocks away. Notice that black-on-white stuff in the distance? Yeah, that's gravel
I know I probably shouldn't be so picky, but I have a problem with the grass. The thing is, grass is like the most common block you can see, and when ever texture packs use 'realistic' grass it makes the ENTIRE texture pack appear grainy. You look out across the lands you have marvellously sculpted to look remarkably beautiful, but becomes overly grainy. It is for this reason I don't use 'Photo-realistic' packs or packs with grass like that. I prefer something like Sphax. But anyway, just look at the screenshots of the grass and hopefully you will understand. I don't know what you can do about it, but just letting you know. Here, in the images below I will compare it to Sphax (also 256x), exact same picture and all. But remember, it is much more noticeable when the player is moving their mouse.
Anyway that's all I have for now, I hope some of this helps you, it took me over an hour to get it all done. I like the majority of the pack, but there is always room for improvement, especially since you only just started it.

Good work :smile.gif:
Wow, thanks a lot! It's great to get some feedback and screenshots from people! Glad you enjoyed using it and I will get started on improving the looks. I agree with most of them and just haven't gotten up to fixing them yet. Thanks! :smile.gif:

Ok it took me a while but I went through and fixed up all the things that were bad. I feel a lot better about the pack now! Hope you take a look and see the difference. (;
No, I've never heard of Genetica. I found seamless pictures myself or made them. Genetica does seem like a decent program when I look into it, so I will check it out.

Okay sorry it has taken me so long, will look into it now, and probably tomorrow :smile.gif: ill come up with some more stuff to improve on if any, and stuff I like, etc.
Glad to be of help :smile.gif: at least you're not an idiot like the guy who made THIS texture pack and THIS second thread to complain about everyone telling him how crap it was :tongue.gif:
EDIT: Oh wait, he removed his pack :tongue.gif: still fun to read all the hate comments :biggrin.gif:
Okay, here is my SECOND review of sorts, focusing on things I may have missed last time and the things you have now fixed :smile.gif: also, how come I didn't get credited in the first post? :tongue.gif: just saying :wink.gif: I think it is important to post all the good things as well as the bad, to keep your spirit up :smile.gif: So here it all is:
The Good Things
Gravel is certainly starting to look a lot better, could still use a little improvement though :biggrin.gif:
Wood tiles much more nicely, except for the dark wood I think it is. Normal and snowy wood tiles great, so look at them in the pictures below. I'll talk about the dark wood in the cons section.
I REALLY love the look of the flowers, however I think the red and yellow flowers should be different in a little bit more than just colour. Keep this look for the red flower, as it looks great, but change the one for the yellow flower maybe :smile.gif:
Thank you so much! The sandstone looks awesome now! Possibly one of the best sandstone textures I have ever seen, it tiles great, looks nice, and would make a perfect floor :biggrin.gif: also I like that it is the same texture for all sides :smile.gif: some people might not like that, but it's just preference I suppose.
Other than the white, wool seems to have minimal texture to it, even when up close. Also, the bottom of the texture is darker than the top, meaning that it has horizontal lines across it when stacked, as you can see in the picture.
Now, while you DID change the redstone torches, I still think they could use some improvement. From what I gathered, you are going for a lamp-like look for it? Well I have no doubt you could pull it off if you put a bit more detail into the torch, fixing up the bottom a bit and using more than 4 colours :tongue.gif:
Not too sure what exactly to say about this one, but the clouds often do weird things. I think that because you may have resized the clouds file (did you?) the clouds are now huge. But weird things seem to happen, such as squares of sunshine in the middle of huge clouds. Not even sure if this is avoidable, but I actually like the default cloud textures anyway :smile.gif:
While you changed the ice texture, and I like this one a lot more, it still doesn't tile unfortunately. I think if you could get it to tile nicely it would look awesome :smile.gif:
I think you made the glowstone darker, and I certainly think it looks half decent like that, but, alas, it still doesn't tile right. That is the main problem with texture packs really, making sure they tile right. So just look at the picture below and see what you can do about it.
The netherrack tiles nicely, however like the old glowstone, it is a bit bland and monotonous, if that word can even be applied to pictures. But it really could do with some more character :smile.gif:
This one is not necessary, it is just my opinion, but I think that Soul Sand should have SOULS IN IT :tongue.gif: like the original one, but of your own design. It also doesn't tile well, which is bad news since it generates next to other soulsand blocks, so it needs to tile.
I am pretty sure it can't be fixed, but glass in the inventory just appears as a blank square. Note that my hotbar is full of glass, yet it just appears as a blank square with a number if you have more than one block. Same with glass panes.
The added-on eyes on the helmets (or at least the Diamond Helmet) look unusual, I don't really like it, but others may, ask around and find out if you aren't sure.
Wasn't there a hunger bar in 1.8? I am playing this on 1.0.0, but the hunger bar isn't appearing. Not sure if it's because of the version difference (you really should update it to 1.0.0, it's really easy) or if you have forgotten about it. It's on the list now anyway :tongue.gif:
Slimeballs... not too sure if I like them or not, but I'm gonna put it up anyway. I am actually stuck on the fence as to whether or not I like or dislike them. They have a sort of appeal, yet they are quite basic, so I'm not sure. I suppose the important thing for me to remember is that they should match the theme, so do what you like with them, they certainly don't contradict the Modern look :smile.gif:
Phew, that was certainly a long list, but I hope it helps :smile.gif: if you want you can check out my own texture pack HERE, it's really only one I made for personal use, to fix up some of the things I don't like about the default textures.
Please Note: I haven't finished this yet, I didn't expect it to take so long and I am so tired right now. I will finish this with pictures and stuff tomorrow. Bear with me, I'm sure none of you are too desperate that you cant wait an extra day before you get my review, no matter how awesome it might be ;P am also considering making the review into a video, we will see :smile.gif:
Ok, I'm REALLY glad you've helped me again. You give me feedback and I love improving on the pack. I didn't know much about texture pack making when I started so nothing tiled but I've slowly re-done everything and didn't notice the other things. I'll try to make things more vibrant. I guess I should fess up now... AT THE MOMENT I've only done the blocks, a few GUI and the environment pictures and all the rest belong to LB Photo Realism. So anything not like that is by him and just ignore it. The holidays and coming up for me so I'm sure I'll work on the pack in my free time, doing the items etc. If you're not sure if I made it or if it's LB's just ask. Hope you don't mind! Again, thanks for doing all this for me because it's a great help!
