I've been having fun over the past few weeks developing a little minecraft 2d fan game. Recently, a friend asked me to create a texture pack containing the textures from the minecraft 2d project, I thought it would be a fun idea, and thus the simple texturepack was created. Well, the simple texturepack was started. I decided to atleast finish all the blocks before posting the texturepack on the forums, with the exception of saplings, crops and the new end-related items as I have no idea what the end-related items are supposed to be.
When people say the dirt is too orange, make it more orange.
Can't figure out what half the blocks are? You'll have to download and find out...
How short is that tree on the far right?
Why would someone build there house in the middle of nowhere? To show off a texturepack.
Progress
Update 1.1:
Pumpkins given a smile.
Suger cane is now more brown and no longer stands straight up.
Dirt, stone and ores have been given slightly more detail.
Default 1.9pre4 items have been added to avoid invisible item problems.
Obsidian fixed.
One sapling done!
Wheat remains untouched.
Some other small things that I've forgotten.
Items are still in progress aswell as boat, minecart and sign skins. As it stands I've decided to keep all the GUI, backgrounds and particles default, but I may change my mind in future.
Videos?
I made a video just showing a few somewhat cinimatic views.
Old terrain.png file:
Some textures haven't been drawn for the 2d project yet, so the original textures have just been exaggerated and/or simplified.
Nice I would make the grass a little darker though and something else for saplings, sugar canes and a pumpkin face would touch it up nicely
I've been playing around with the grass A LOT, I'll see if I can't make it look better and hopefully more green. As for saplings and such, working on it. You can't really tell but the sugar cane is different to the original, the pumpkins have been simplified slightly, but vegetation is so complex in the real world, that its hard to simplify without ruining.
I liked the shading/lighting on the iron door, really shows you're a good texturist, just need a little more ambition to finish this, and make it amazing!
I'm rooting for you bro
