A. Baldur's Craft is a 16x texture pack built on the Painterly foundation whose art and design are taken from the classic CRPG Baldur's Gate.

Q. Painterly? Why u thief?
A. As of 11/12/11, the only remaining Painterly resources are the vehicles, which are my next project. There are no other remaining Painterly resources. So when I say "Built on Painterly" it's a nod of gratitude to the texture pack which inspired me most, but whose resources are no longer present in the pack.
In addition, I will be working on, when Minecraft is released, a 32x version of Baldur's Craft which will have to be from scratch.

Q. What are you using?
A. Paint Shop Pro 8, Planet Minecraft for hosting, Photobucket for image hosting, elbow grease, and dollops of love.
Even so a lot of it seems to be the placeholders. You shouldn't take other people's work and use it as if it were your own.
It's either Painterly placeholders or Mojang placeholders. I've credited them to Rhodox and assured you that I am working to replace them, pixel by pixel. I wouldn't have admitted as much if I was trying to pull a fast one.
EDIT: An example of items I have replaced thus far; diamonds, books, golden sword, diamond sword, diamond axe, iron axe
Gearing up for a major update of items! Replaced fourteen of them tonight, with more to come tomorrow!
Also, if there are any of you out there, I've got a question for my fellow Baldur's Gate fans. How would one go about remaking a creeper in BG's image? Is there really even a way? There aren't any mobs specific to BG that really fit them all that well off the bat. Ghasts at least could look like a mopey sort of beholder, but creepers have me stumped.

Well in BG2 they had the Kamikaze Kobolds in Firkraag's Lair in Windspear Hills, which exploded when they got near you. As a monster in D&D that's similar to a Creeper, there are a few monsters that explode when they die (Gas Spore, some types of Bullywug) but I don't think they would fit well with a Creeper.
Also working on the Sarevok skin, and let me tell you, it's tricky. Mely and Jon at least have a lot of different colors going on; Sarevok is all shading, all the time. I had to nerf the strength of my lighten/darken tool just so I could get enough "shades of black" for his armor. :tongue.gif:
Also guys, I got caught off guard by PR4! Didn't even realize it came out today. Luckily though the most major graphic addition was the dragon, plus some blocks which I have no idea wtf is going on with them, but I'm going to find out.
In the mean time, queue this up:
Because you better believe I'm going to be all over that dragon texture this weekend.

Hell yes! Nice work man, Keep it up! :biggrin.gif:
Well guys, I got some bad news. I checked the texture file for enderdragons, and it's huge, just as big as the terrain file.
BUT I MADE AN ASS-KICKING DRAGON TEXTURE IN LESS TIME THAN IT TOOK TO DO A SKIN ANYWAY, HELL YEAH
And it's 100% original too. The colors are inspired by the Shadow Dragon, Thaxll'ssillyia, but every last pixel is mine. It marks the first mob I have completed for the pack, with more now surely to come.
Very nice, can't wait to see it finished :smile.gif:
I don't think of it so much as a "work in progress" as a "progressing work." Like the Death Star II. Oh, this battle station might look unfinished, but it is fully operational.
-Fixed some errors in the dragon skin, and gave them teeth.
-Made a new "creeper" skin.
The creeper is now a Rupter Hulk. Those familiar with Baldur's Gate and D&D are already familiar with the infamous Umber Hulk; a lumbering, monstrous insect which tunnels through stones and drives those who look at it mad for a short time.
The Rupter Hulk is a related creature. Covered in chitinous armor, it prefers the darkness and cool of underground, though it also comes out to the surface at night. It is herbivorous, and while often spotted alone, it is a hive-minded creature. When it spots anything it perceives as a threat, it charges toward them and explodes. Thankfully, it has lost its ability to confuse and madden those who look upon it, though its newfound powers are enough on their own to drive someone crazy.
Rumor has it that the Rupter Hulk is a result of experimentation by the evil mage Jon Irenicus, one of the many abominations that was contained in his laboratory beneath the city of Athkatla, that was able to escape into the sewers when the place was attacked by the Shadow Thieves. Since that time it has spread through the length of the Sword Coast through the network of caves and tunnels beneath its surface.
Rupter Hulks will be included in the next update, which will officially be the Mob Update for Baldur's Craft.
Zombies will remain zombies, though I may add some tattered armor to skeletons. Pigmen, however, I might change to some form of devil, seeing as the current cosmology of Minecraft seems to mesh very, very well with the Hell and Abyss worlds of Dungeons and Dragons; the Nether being like the Nine Hells, and The End being like the Abyss. This may also lead to Ender Men being made into a form of demon.
Also, I will do my best to someday do something that isnt' wearing black armor. XD

He's not, there is plenty of text stating it isn't and that he plans on replacing.
On another note, I think you have captured baldur's gate rather well. I used to play that game all the time.
I really like the dwarven runes. Nice touch.
Thank you much. :smile.gif: In the 32x version of the pack, I am plannig on using the Baldur's Gate UI font as well.

The "Good Faith" item update! 13 new item textures swapped in!
And more to come!
It's pretty nice, will keep on the lookout for updates.
Bodhi is up next. Then, maybe, start doing party members, along with mobs for the texture pack.
I'll round out this rogues' gallery this weekend with a Bodhi skin, and start moving on to the party members. :smile.gif:
