I did the patcher 2.1.2
I put the zip files in the appropriate folder
What is happening:
Took me forever, but when I download the zip file Lion automatically extracts it to a folder so I was not able to see the texpak from the selection screen. Once I found that the texpak needed to be a zip file I re-compressed the folder and now I can see it at the selection screen... but it's black/white. When I select one of them and launch the game I only see the normal graphics.
Obviously I missed something, but I can't seem to spot it..
I have a mac and i also believe most macs have this problem that when you recompress it to a zip it wont work as you describe (happened to me too) so an easy way to fix this is to unzip the file and put the actual minecraft application (not a shortcut) into the folder with all the textures
Mac OS-X Lion
Minecraft Beta 1.8.1

Any hints?
Thanks!
EDIT: Oops, didn't see what you posted. Redownload?
With a twist.
If you use Safari, Be sure to Uncheck (under Preferences - General) "Open safe files"
This will stop Safari from automatically uncompressing .zip files.
Works like a charm now.
Thanks for the help and I hope this helps someone else. ;-)
