New options in the customizer. At my brother's suggestion I added a less ornate glass. And yellow glowstone for people who aren't having a love affair with blue like I am.
Geez, this pack has come a long way in the week or so since I last commented.
Thank you!
This thread along with Steelfeathers and DMC's have helped me through the funk I was in recently. I am beginning to understand why reviewers become snobbish assholes. Mediocrity is so frustrating. Thanks for pushing above the slime that is the average pack on this forum and shining with your work.
Make sure you get this on the texture pack central list. That helps draw attention. :smile.gif:
Love the textures but I'm not a big fan of the wool.
There's non-decorative wool, if you're looking for something more plain.
Also, finished the leather armor. I'm part of a medieval reenactment group, so I modeled the leather armor after my own leather armor. I'm the girl with the crossbow.
I wanted goggles though. I'm a big fan of awesome goggles.
Crossbow? I always considered you to be more of a mace and chain kinda of girl.
I do love the mace, I must admit. Sadly, it's also a very high-energy weapon and ever since I got ill I've not had the stamina for something like that. It's an insanely fun weapon though. You just keep hitting the person until something lands solidly. Great stress relief.
I'm not a bad shot with the crossbow though. Since I spent time on the shield wall first with my sword and shield, I'm not scared of being in melee and can shoot from the second or third rank. I've killed a lot of people that way, especially since I'm short and they don't see me until I pop up to fire.
I miss fighting so bad. I need to get out there again with my crossbow.
Oh, awesome! Thank you! My first review, that's awesome.
I think the reason you're seeing glitched blocks is because my pack is not setup for 1.9 pre-release. I was seeing the same thing when I tried it out with those glitched blocks. Once 1.9 is released I'll update it for that format, but until then I'm focusing on getting the armor updated and filling in the gaps of stuff I haven't done yet.
So, I downloaded this pack, checked it out and OHMYGODITSSODETAILEDITHURTSMYEYES.
It seriously does. I'm generally not a fan of these dark and detailed texture packs,
but in this case,it's the maniacal attention to detail that makes it so great.
If there was an award for the most detailed texture pack, this would win it.
Thank you, that makes me really happy to hear! I'm kind of psychotic about the details, to be honest. I do these illuminated scrolls in this medieval reenactment group I'm part of and the thing that constantly amazes me about them is the level of detail in those paintings. So in trying to recreate those paintings I've gotten used to really fine details in every available inch of space.
Being a fan of all things medieval I get rather irate when I see female fantasy armor. People. I've fought in armor with swords. A steel bikini is a TERRIBLE idea. Ever been stabbed in the boob with a spear? It hurts like hell and that's with a decent breastplate and a gambeson. I never want to have bruises there ever again... but I digress. I don't like fantasy armor. It's ridiculous.
I'm also not a fan of when people bastardize mythology. Especially Norse. I love Norse mythology and nothing makes me want to cry more than Loki being portrayed as HUR HUR GENERIC EVIL DUDE. No. Just no. Please stop. And don't get me started on the valkyries.
So, with all that in mind, I present to you: iron armor! Complete with a short skimpy skirt and a winged valkyrie helmet!
...I think I screwed up somewhere. But anyway, moving on. I know, this makes two outfits now that are made for the females. I understand, I understand. I just got a bit carried away and I promise to you, the gold armor will have a nice masculine jacket and pants. I present to you: gold armor! With regal robes!
What? Not very manly? Well, I tried, okay. At least it's not inviting people to stab you in the boob, okay?

That is a riot. I completely agree, and this is coming from a hormone driven, visually oriented man. The armor normally shown is games for women characters is completely silly. Not only does it not cover anything. It would still be rather heavy. Thus reducing your mobility without adding any beneficial protection. Not to mention that a plate mail thong would be incredibly uncomfortable.

Thank you. I am glad I can also amuse. And oh my... I cringe to even imagine a plate mail thong. I get armor bites from my leather stuff... I just... ow. So much ow.

Yeah I know, that's why people in full plate usually had padded and sometimes leather armor underneath with the padded when they wore plate. This is even more off topic, but I have always been annoyed with how common plate mail is in games nowadays, and how you can pick up a set of plate armor and just put it on. That stuff was custom made and EXPENSIVE to manufacture and maintain. That's why people had to have estates just to pay for their armor and horse.

Oh goodness yes. I don't wear a gambeson anymore and I pay for it in pressure bruises wherever there's armor against exposed skin. But personally, I prefer that to being too hot. I'm sure if this were real combat I'd be wearing that gambeson though.
And yeah, most armor was scavenged and ill-fitting. I've come to take all fantasy writing/games/movies with a very large grain of salt. For the most part I can suspend disbelief but there's still a couple novels that have made my eyes roll enough to sprain them.
Squeezed in one last update before bed: some planks that fit the overall look of the pack better. They're on the customizer. And now, I'm going to get some sleep!
Well, if the customizer was working right today, I'd say there's new textures for sponges... the chain armor loaded okay though. And it has pants! Manly pants!
