I have recently been, well, trying to start up work on images. I had "gotten used to" Photoshop for about half a year, but had never really done any pixel work. So, I decided to download Paint.NET, and give it a go.
This is a Work In Progress pack, and a beginner pack at that, so any constructive criticism is welcomed.

This Workbench still needs some work, but I got this far with it tonight.
Looks really good! When do you think you'll have it finished?
It'll be a while. I usually get 1-2 textures done a day, when I work on it. Then there's the refining of what I have and future textures, possible alternatives, etc. I hate being confined to only working on what I haven't done yet, but I do aim for that.
The glass is fantastic, and the work bench is well done too.
Your newer planks and the wooden parts of the work bench are really saturated/orange, I would personally tone it down but it depends on what you intend the style to be.
The refined ore blocks are fairly plain. Perhaps you can have a thicker border so there is less flat space?
And for a very small change, you should add some shading to the metal parts of your torches.
Keep going!
And I recommend GIMP 2 over Paint.net any day, but if you have Photoshop then you could probably use that :tongue.gif:

I was worried about the saturation of the wood, so I will probably mess around with that until I get some good colors.
The ore blocks are kind of plain, they didn't come out as glossy as I had hoped, but I'm probably going to redo them anyways, so they won't be worked on until I get some more blocks done.
I was planning on shading the metal part of torches, but I'm not entirely sure how to go about that, being as most of it in 1 block thick and it is a light source. I'll work something out ASAP.
Thanks for the post, first criticism I've gotten on this!
Oh, and that comment about GIMP/paint.NET, I already got used to everything in paint, so I'll probs stick with it.
Oh, thanks! Saves me some time, I'll probably work on ores soon. Also, I'm probably going to add a small amount of contrast to the stone. I'll make sure to keep this thread updated!
Got 9 textures to show here:
Iron, gold, and lapis lazuli blocks. Not sure what to do with diamond though. When I do diamond I might redo iron, the wrought iron on iron look doesn't seem right on it.
Rails of all kinds. Yes, on top of furnaces.
Stone, lit and unlit furnaces, Great for counter tops!
Also, I'm not sure why the lit furnace is so much lighter than the rest, but the textures are the same brightness and color.
The shading on the refined blocks needs to be more varied.
Furnaces need more that makes them discernible from stone.
The planks have this gradient that makes them look rounded; I'm not sure if that's intentional.
The smooth stone is much better.
God, this community is fantastic at giving support but it's so hard to extract feedback.
And try to bump in response to someone or with content :tongue.gif:

The ore blocks are a half-outline, as in I add detail, but I'm going to go back and fix them up later. That goes for most blocks.
I'm planning on redoing furnaces a bit, never was big on the plain-fronted ones.
I noticed that on planks, but as I said, later refinement, still kind of working on getting a style into this pack, so its not quite sporadic with textures.
Thanks.
I always saw threads with tons of feedback, and thought, alright, so I put some stuff up, reply to some posts, and thats it. Much harder than it looks.
The bump was something I didn't enjoy doing, but I had just posted new pictures to have the thread slide onto page 2, unnoticed.

It happens to me too. If you look at the times of each post, there's a bit of space in between comments then it picks up momentum. Steelfeathers was pretty unnoticed for a while, then gained a ton of recognition in a few months.
I'm just hoping that's what will happen to more people.

There are plenty people that deserve to have a more recognized pack, you being one of them. The problem is that, to do anything about it, you have to get well-known first, otherwise you accomplish nothing. I, myself, did this more of for practice with pixel work, and for some reason, I can't bring myself to make more noticeable differences in textures. But, that bump was just for 1 criticizing post on the new textures, and, from the experience I've had so far, people don't look past the first page, ever.

People go where there is already attention. That's normal.
I recommend joining the Union thread to go get a little bit more recognition. Also, provide a link to your thread in your signature.
And something that can apply to all of your art... don't be afraid to push the darks. That's what will really make things pop out.

EDIT: all your page two are belong to me.
Hrmm, yes, that could work. That could also work. Also, that guy could work.
I might go ahead and refine some of my textures, I have noticed that it's easier to notice the lighter colors than dark in a single texture, so pushing the darks does make sense.
That edit made me burst out laughing, I don't know why, but it no longer does! And soon I will report back with darker darks and whatnot!

"Finished" textures
The name Aedon is a working name, meaning suggestions for a new name will be considered.

Don't expect one any time soon!
Awkward smiley face because of a short comment with no criticism.
Thank you, though.

There's also a new wood plank texture there, so, opinions.
Also thinking of trying something entirely different here... Will probably make a texture in that style tomorrow.

Should I try to work with this for smooth stone?
Does the wood and workbench seem to have a good color?
And please, if you're gonna post, post criticism. I need some.
