I may do an alternate that has more squared cobble like enchanted. Right now I am burnt out on cobble. For some reason it always take me forever to get cobble right.
I used a different tactic on the cobble this time. instead of drawing the cobble I drew the cracks and shaded what came out of that. That may be why it looks more....organic.
I tried three different methods to get to a satisfactory cobble. The first one I tried drawing the cracks first, second it tried drawing the stones first, then the third one I just shaded over the stone block and made Thistle-esque cobble. And yeah, it takes forever compared to really geometric stuff like bricks. : |
It seemed like a good pack, so I downloaded it and played around with it a bit, and now its feedback time!
I SHALL GIVE YOU FEEDBACK, IF YOU WANT IT OR NOT. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.
Stuff I like:
-the plank texture is very original and also pretty good looking
-good work on the glass too
-teh nethercrack looks nice :tongue.gif:
-also, nice furnace and dispenser
Bad textures:
-the leaves look VERY WIP
-the ores texture has a different color than the stone texture
-why are the pumpkins and melons white and with a black hole on one side?
I don't get it.
I'm kinda meh about some other textures, like the logs. They look okay, but they lack in detail.
List of textures I'm kinda meh about:
-I don't really get where you are going with the torches. I like the idea of floating torches, but maybe you should make them more firey and not just floating black orbs.
-The cobble is pretty detailed, but has also a pretty weird shape.

A lot of my textures were done in a hurry. In the case of the pumpkin and melon, I was running out of time and I wanted to do something different. I have been considering redoing the textures. Also, the black hole glows when it is lit up. :smile.gif:
The ores were an experiment. One that apparently didn't work to well. The idea I had for the torches was that they were floating bits of coal. However, the bits of coal are too large and need to be moved down some.
As for the cobble... *glares at his nemesis*
For some reason I have the hardest time getting good cobble. I have an idea though that I am going to try that is actually based on your cobble. (a tiny bit)

Alrighty, There is a fairly good chance that I just landed not one but two jobs. Which I desperately needs right now. If that happens I will become sort of scarce. I will make all my packs compliant with the new releases but you probably won't be seeing to many texture from me for a while. I kind of want to wait until the full release next month before updating again.
I already almost have enough for an update tomorrow. I will attempt an alt cobble for those of you who do not like the current one. Something more brick-like maybe. I'm also going to include a new brick alt that will be a reddish charcoal.

I will be releasing an update as soon as the next pre-release comes out. According to notch that will be the last pre-release with new content until the release at minecon. So, on that day, I will make all my packs 1.9 (whatever) compliant, meaning I will add the default textures to the terrain.png and items.png. Then I will start working on the new textures for future updates.

I'm not saying they are bad, but I'm not sure how I feel about the sides of the grass. However I love everything else I'm seeing in the screen shots. This looks amazing. I'm definitely going to get it. Thank you for putting your hard work and free time into something so well done for the community!

Yeah, apparently there are some mostly transparent pixels ruining the look of the side grass, thanks for pointing it out. I will have that fixed for the next update.
Also, apparently I was right about the name. My downloads have doubled since I changed it.

Oh, well I'm glad I helped you notice that, but I don't want to take credit for something I didn't actually notice lol. I think my thing with the grass has more to do with it looks like it has a really flat edge on the bottom. As I said I don't think it's bad, it's just a personal preference I think. Having the side-grass look like it's got some parts that are longer and shorter I guess are just something I find appealing.
