It works with optifine but to get the full enjoyment of the ctm included, you have to use mcpatcher. On a positive note vanilla rendering is vastly improved in yesterdays snapshot.
Optifine fixed their CTM in the latest version so it works fine. (just as an FYI)
I just wanted to come request a cleaner glass, I'm going to edit it myself I think but the crazy amount of streaks (thanks vanilla) just drive me nuts.

I have no plans on changing the glass to a translucent style, unless mojang does the same.
My suggestion is to find a pack that has glass you like and just replace mine with that.
I'm using this with Optifine and getting sudden lag spikes that bring me down to anywhere between 0-10 FPS. Can't say I've ever had this problem before. I was wondering if anybody else using this pack is getting this?
for reference:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
GPU name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti (4GB)
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130104-1431)
For me the Cauldron looks like 4 compasses. It's really disappointing since I love this texture pack. Anyone else getting this?
I have the txt pack in the textures folder but I launch using magic launcher. If I use mcpatcher all items are black squares so it is off. I am using TMI, zombe, optifine, and reis minimap

Try using the pack without any mods, including MCpatcher and see if it fixes it, then slowly add things until it breaks it again... but I'm going to go ahead and make the assumption that it is because you are using optifine. Usually when people have troubles that's what causes it, Mcpatcher and optifine both modify the same files, as did my minecraft enhanced mod which is why I discontinued it.
On a side note the v1.5.1 update will be sometime later this upcoming week, the current bugs are small and I'd like to do more than just bug fixes, I've been trying to get in at least 1 mob per release for the past few releases to get those finished up, so I can see where that puts us at performance wise, before I add any more CTM.

I have done this diagnostic and here were my results:
With all mods, I have to reload the texture in game after loading because all items are black boxes. Reloading the pack in game resolves this but takes time and it's annoying. Cauldrons are compasses...
Remove Modloader (but keep Optifine), and I don't have to reload the texture in game anymore. Same Cauldron issue
If I remove Optifine and Modloader everything seems OK. I will say performance is much better with Optifine on though..
If I have just Modloader everything seems OK. So I guess the issue is with Optifine but I really need that. MC runs much smoother when that is on. I'm hoping that when the 1.5.1 release is actually out the issue will be resolved...
A few requests, and please consider this since this pack is supposed to be 'faithful' to the original textures:
-There are no rocks in the dirt. I'm actually working right now to add those into a customized version of it. There needs to be rocks, and the dirt needs to be less smooth. It looks like just a brown block.
-The black lines around the food (apples specifically) need to be removed as they have been in the latest version of the game. I've done this for myself, just takes a quick trim.
-Please don't try the 3D effect with the skeleton heads. It absolutely doesn't work, there's just a bunch of holes and odd contours and it looks horrible.
-The furnace and dispenser textures need some work. Far too smooth, the original textures are basically cobblestone with a block outline, it looks like you've taken some contrast out of the cobblestone and it doesn't blend as well as the original textures would together. Again, an easy fix.
-Most important: Please, give us a clock with no number on top. It looks lazily made and horrifying, and very unfaithful to the original textures. How about list the numbered clock in an Alternates list?
The rest is absolutely great. I'm using your textures along with some Photo Realistic textures I've found and some tweaking I've done. If Mojang made their textures HD, this is how they'd look.
Edit:
-Also, gravel now looks like old school gravel. Could you add one that represents the new style a bit more, and list the old as an Alternative?
-Same for the Iron Block, it's the old school version.
-In the newer versions, much of the detail was intentionally removed from the iron door to make it seem less of a gray version of the wooden door and more like an actual iron door. I'm finding a way to do this for mine, and it'd be nice if the official version did as well.

Actually the dirt does have grey pixels in it which I see as rocks, it's hard to tell at 16x16, but they are there look closer.
Yes I will remove the black lines from apples, honestly I hadn't realized they had changed that as I don't play the game, only develop this pack. Super easy fix = done.
I played with filling the skellies head, and I tried it the current way, and after a lot of consideration I did what I did so that they look better from the side angles. I'll look into this again.
Again look closer at the furnace especially at the side, it is much smoother than the cobblestone. You can't really use the front as a guide you need to look at the side one to see what I mean, especially at the bottom it's very smooth compared to cobblestone. I feel like it's represented pretty well in it's current form.
The clock is the way it is for functionality reasons, the numbers are there so that you know what number you are at for the "set time" function, 1= 1000 and so on, but I agree by default it should be like default.
And it will be. I'll leave the numbers version as an alternate version.
The numbers only look bad at lower resolutions because I didn't touch them up as the way they changed clocks is a lot of work now compared to what it used to be. I didn't get as much time to redo them as I had liked. I was planning on fixing this in the new version of the 32x/64x/128x anyway.
I've debated on redoing the gravel to fit the new feel, but honestly I like the old gravel better and with the original 16x16 it leaves a lot of room for deviating slightly. Which is what I do with all the texture, it's basically what I think minecraft would look like if they used better textures, hence the pack being called minecraft enhanced, and not minecraft faithful. For instance I think square moons/suns look terrible.
I will gladly be looking into the iron doors again something I hadn't realized changed, I've never liked vanillas original iron doors so this is something I will look at and fix. The sheer amount of texture changes in the last few versions of the game has been overwealming, especially since I don't play the game anymore.
Thanks for the feedback, I always appreciate good constructive critism like this.
I hope to get in some of these changes for the next version.

There are no rocks in your dirt. Well, there are areas in the texture that look like they would be rocks - but the entire thing is brown. I'm going to go through some time and selectively color it to make the rocks more apparent. I could post the result if you'd like.
You should also look at the furnace and cobblestone textures in the game rather than comparing texture to texture. In the game, dispensers and furnaces can be blended in well with cobblestone, though it doesn't reflect this. Also note that there were changes to cobblestone I believe not too long ago as well. If you'd like, I could message you with some texture changes they did in recent updates that you may not be aware about. The gravel and iron you use match the original textures, but not the recently updated versions, for example.
Thank you very much for the clock part. I had difficulty trying to fill in the texture myself so I very much appreciate you making an alternate. Also, I'm using the highest resolution available. I'm just a stickler for original textures, as you can tell.
I agree that square moons and suns are terrible, but you should know that they did actually release a version (1.9 pre-release) with a square moon and sun. Community feedback made Notch (he was still the lead developer at the time) ultimately decide to reverse it. I'm fine with a round moon and sun, but if you really wanted, couldn't hurt to try a square for an alternate.
Also for gravel, I agree. However, one notable thing about the new gravel texture is it reflects multiple colored rocks and larger rocks. A lot of texture pack authors usually make both versions because the community is pretty split on preference. I won't blame you for not trying, but I may look into an alternative and post if I get anything.
The iron door was changed for that exact reason, not a lot of people liked that it was just a recoloring of the iron door. All the vanilla version does is make the details a lot less noticeable. I was going to try to blur the texture a bit and see if I can imitate their change for myself, but since you're looking into this, I'll focus on other things.
One last thing I'd like to say, the only thing I found really odd about this texture pack was the armor. I know you were aiming for how they may do their textures if they did it at this resolution, and for the most part it was good (I like the plate style design when using the iron armor), however, I have a few complaints. One is that there again were changes to some of the armor files to make them a bit different from each other (leather has a longer shirt for example).
The thing I was particularly interested in was the leather armor. Since they did a lot to make it look different from the other armor files now (they aimed for a clothing look that could also double as custom armor), it doesn't feel to me that this is reflected in your textures. Also, I don't think the plate design goes well with the leather and I personally don't agree with the un-dyed layer patterns you chose, again, because I'm all about sticking close to the original design.
I've been working on my own texture replacement for leather (I will ultimately edit the other textures excluding chain mail which you did more than fantastic on by the way). I used your texture as a basis and edited the dimensions to fit the changes to the leather armor shape and used a leather texture to give detail to it as well as added the vanilla patterns (button and dark edges) and made the un-dyed layer the same as the vanilla styles.
Take a look and feel free to use them however you'd like, even as an alternate or simply not at all if you don't agree with my changes.

I've yet to complete the other images. Figured I'd get your opinion before I move on.
And for my last words, I'm sorry to hear you left the game but I'm very glad you still get enough enjoyment from doing these textures to keep on working on them. I hope you come back sometime, it's still as awesome as ever (and more awesome in HD!). I personally am on and off but every update gets me to come back at least for a little bit.
I cannot imagine playing the game without this texture pack. I cannot use this texture pack without MCPatcher.
These facts concern me greatly. Should you and/or Kahr become disenchanted with ongoing maintenance, my interest in Minecraft would be greatly diminished.
So, let me just say that I am fan of your work. I greatly appreciate your contribution to my gaming experience. Thank you.
It's a nice Texture Pack, but still it needs high end computer because of the memory crash
It does need a high end computer because it has demanding graphical requirements, but every computer is limited by default on memory while playing MineCraft. I highly suggest using Magic Launcher and configuring it to start with more memory for this texture pack.
Hey, I believe you mixed up the textures for potatoes and baked potatoes! Potatoes look like baked potatoes and vice versa.
I am using the 128x128 1.5 version of the texture pack
You are right. This is apparent on the x128 and x256 (so I'm guessing it is the same for all). Until there is an official fix, this is what you can do with the each-texture-in-a-file format.
Go to your texture packs folder %appdata%\.minecraft\texturepacks
Unzip the MineCraft Enhanced texture folder (I recommend using 7-Zip)
Navigate to ..\Textures\Items inside of the unzipped texture pack.
Find "potato.png" and "potatoBaked.png" and switch their names using Explorer's Rename (right click)
Repack the folders into a .zip file, or don't - the new texture formats supports uncompressed textures and it may actually help load times if you're willing to deal with the extra space.
