i have a custom painterly pack but i need to add the default textures for the new 1.8 items and blocks as place holders until it is updated but i dont know how and i don't want to screw it up
(please move this if i put it in the wrong section)
You'll want to unzip the painterly .zip file and look through the textures. Ignore any missing files (the default ones will be used), but for the terrain.png, particles.png and items.png (and maybe some others) you'll have to copy and paste the parts from the 1.8 default files that are missing from the Painterly files. Try to make sure you keep them in their grid layout.
You WILL need an editor with transparency (Paint.NET, GIMP, Photoshop, etc).
Once you've done all the files (just check them, make sure there's no missing 1.8 items or blocks - make sure the Painterly file has a graphic for each item/block), you'll want to select all the texturepack's files (terrain.png, particles.png, all the folders like items, gui, etc) and compress them. Place the resulting .zip into your texturepacks folder.
Does anyone know some good or even great texture packs? I've made a few, but, they all seem to get boring after a while. I want one that I can use every day and never get tired of it. Any suggestions?

I use my own Darkening every day without getting tired. But I guess JoliCraft works fine too.
