Hey guys. I'm in the process of making my own TP, and having done a bit of terrain.png I thought I'd change things up a bit and have a go at editing the font file. However, when I try to use it in Minecraft, it shows up with massive spacing between the letters, and a few stray dots around the spaces, the O's, the T's and the S's. There are no overlaps of the pixels (triple-checked), and no stray semi-transparent pixels either (as far as I can tell).
Before you ask, I have patched the game with MCPatcher so I have no idea why this is occurring.
Here's the font file:
Hopefully you guys can let me know what I'm doing wrong :smile.gif:
I've looked into this extensively and at the moment there is no way around it. For some reason, once you start editing the font, the kerning gets fubared. I have found no way around it as of yet. The only thing I was able to do was draw little bits at a time on the original font.png... the kerning was ok for awhile, and then poof, monospace.
edit: the only thing I was ever able to think of, was that the fonts kerning is hardcoded and based off the preceding letter. Then, once we start editing it, I think we're screwing up how Minecraft is determining to place the next letter, because the graphic is different. thus defaulting to monospace

It’s the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out.
I’d rather be in, in a good system. That’s where my discontent comes from:
being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin’ straight ahead.
Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."
