You may have seen the new 1.8 background for the menu and thought,
"HOW THE HELL DO I CUSTOMIZE THIS?!"
Well, I'm here to help.
In the minecraft.jar, go to "title" and then "bg".
You will notice 6 files, panorama(0-5).png.
These are the files used to create the background!
How does it work?
This is how it works: you're inside a cube that uses the "panorama" images as the surfaces.
Here we see an experiment I conducted. I made each "panorama" image a different color in order to locate its position.
There it is ingame!
As you can see, "panorama5.png (yellow)" is the floor. The camera ALWAYS starts out looking at "panorama0.png (red)" and then begins panning to the right, in order of the images.
What's the order of the images?
panorama0.png: First thing the user sees. Front of the room.
panorama1.png: Right side of the room.
panorama2.png: Back side of the room.
panorama3.png: Left side of the room.
panorama4.png: Ceiling.
panorama5.png: Floor.
If I have minecraft up and want to use the internet for a bit (this happens a lot now that logging in is so difficult and time consuming), it's almost impossible because of the CPU the panorama seems to take up.
Also, is this the source of of my slow browser, because it still happens, even when you select singleplayer, which is the old background and a list of your worlds, without a panorama?
Thanks in advance. :smile.gif:
I'm pretty sure that as of now there's no way to revert back to the old background. :sad.gif: What you could do is just make all the panorama images pure black, that may help.

If you upload one picture/image for every background file it would create something like previous backgrounds, only perhaps scrolling (I.E.: you make brick backgrouund, the bricks would scroll.)
Due to the new forum layout I am forced to leave a Link to my about me page so you can my mods/texture packs I support along with my Dragons, Just click on the image
