This version of VillainCraft Asylum is for an adventure map I'm working on. The Vanilla-Gameplay version will not be released until the adventure map version is finished, at which point the vanilla version will take the adventure map version's place on this page, and the adventure map version will be relocated to the same thread as the adventure map itself (once that is finished).
New paintings, including a roshach test, a first aid kit prop, a medical degree prop, a shelf full of medication prop, an elivator dial prop, an NPC from the adventure map sitting behind a desk, and "waiting room art" of a ship on the ocean and a peaceful stream. Some of these may be removed from the final version.

A while back, I was starting work on building a villainous lair in Minecraft and I was looking for a good texture pack to work with. I couldn't find anything that I liked, so I created one instead.
VillainCraft draws inspiration from several villain archetypes, primarily the Supervillain, the Bond Villain, and the Mad scientist, with elements of Gothic Horror, Evil Empire, and Nazis thrown in for good measure.

Behind the Evil is where I explain the reasoning, concepts, and or process behind some of the textures in the pack.
Most texture pack artists approach the bookshelves either as literal bookshelves or as some other method of storing data (scrolls, drawers, occasional computer cores), and I knew very early on that I didn't want to do it like that. How can data storage really feel evil, after all?
Many of my textures I came up with because I needed something specific for the Evil Lair map I'm building (which will unfortunately never be released due to mod issues), which was the original reason I made this pack. This was one of those textures. Specifically, the mad science lab wing of the lair was feeling a bit empty. I decided that I'd make the sort of shelves you tend to see in mad science labs, littered with gadgets and test tubes and creepy things preserved in formaldehyde. And of course a skull. There's always a skull.
The original bookshelf had just an oscilloscope, a set of test tubes, a poorly drawn fetus in a poorly drawn jar, and of course that ever-present skull, although quality of the graphics improved over time, of course, as I started incorporating textures and images taken from photographs (I just can't draw that well by hand at such a small scale, and I'm not ashamed to admit it). The current version of the formaldehyde sample is somewhat ambiguous, which I rather like. It’s taken from a photo of some sort of preserved animal fetus, but at such a low pixel count it could also very well be a lung or some other organ.
It wasn't until I implemented CTM that I was really satisfied with the bookshelf texture. The one original texture looked awkward and out of place when tiled on its own. CTM allowed me to flesh it out a lot more by adding more gadgets (a Geiger counter, a redstone torch bulb, and a magnetic suspension canister holding some sort of phlebotium, in case you were wondering), more glassware filled with mysterious glowing coloured liquids, and finally some actual books to justify the fact that books were still part of the recipe. Now the bookshelves add to the creepy villainous ambiance instead of distracting from it.

Tiling is basically how the blocks look when they're all together? Like for example you made a wall made out of wooden planks & there's this one section of the texture that has a darker tone than the rest. It would be very evident once you look at the wall in general.

Detail of texture, mostly. The bricks aren't 16x16. Its just that the cinderblock texture is very subtle.
The mobs are 16x16 because I don't have any ways of making them 32x32 with the programs I've got.

I suggest using minecraft customizer instead of mediafire.
then if it were me I would make an alternate leaves that were a dark green with low saturation then hit up workin' on bedrock it also might be fun to make pumpkins monitors or control panels that glow.
The dirt is a bit too red for my tastes.(But maybe that's just me)
just shooting ideas,
one of the hardest things (for me anyway) is figuring out what to make next. textures just seem harder to make without it.
The pumpkin idea is good, so long as light is still able to pass through paintings placed on a light source.
The foliage colors are pretty low saturation as is, and while I agree with you that they're too bright, I'm afraid that dropping the saturation any lower would look bad. I'm willing to give it a shot though.
I've already got bedrock in the version on my computer, but I'm waiting to upload until I've got a few more changes.
