They (a guy called "DG_oggi", apparently) post the pics and dl links for many of the packs here, pretending that they originated on that thread...I know it's in russian and there's probably not much that can be done, but..
I don't know. I'm not particularly angry (only a little bit upset that I didn't know), but it just seems wrong and surely there's someone who really isn't okay with this.
So I guess this is a point of discussion. If you are concerned about this, then here's me letting you know about it. Do as you will.
Wow. Makes me want to remove my download... :sad.gif:
I kinda wish mediafire had a way of only allowing downloads that originate from user-authorized sites (like this one). If anyone can link to my link and others can link to those illegitimate links, then....pure chaos.

I see what you mean. I think I saw yours on there.
Um, other than not asking for permission I don't see anything wrong with it. I found dokucraft on the site and I translated it, take a look. No, as far as I know they didn't ask for permission (which is wrong) but I don't see them taking credit for it or asking for donations. Where does it say that he made it?
I think I remember hearing this from somewhere else, and I'm honestly annoyed with that person
"DG_oggie".
Yeah, there are probably quite a few sites like this one, I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this particular thread though. I know someone else brought a similar topic up in the past here.

Well it doesn't say that he made it (at least that I can find), but it seems to be implied in that he (she?) didn't give credit to anyone. And anyone could (including this person) could post unauthorized edits that don't reflect the author's original intent. Plus, these aren't all up to date; people who download this aren't always going to be getting the fullest available pack.
I believe someone said before that piracy is treated very differently in Russia, it's almost impossible to stop them from pirating or stealing stuff.
Probably right. As I said before, the solution would probably be to better secure the links on our end to make sure that they can only be dl'd from reputable sources. I don't know how to accomplish this, however.
I agree that what they did is VERY wrong.. In my opinion, They should actually give credit or take all of them away, Well im not a texture pack maker but I Think that even posting something thats not yours is a little to far But thats my opinion, But if they were advertising and giving credit, that would be ok I think

Well yeah, that's the peeve; It's not just that they offer dl's, its that they don't even bother to give credit or at the very least link back to the OP. What gall.
Well, think about it. A simple google search for a TP I have made (Albion) shows about 4-5 different sites that redistribute the pack with a new ddl link, with or without credit or alteration. I remember that Russian one, a polish one, one in French etc etc.
If you produce sth that has value and distribute it in the net, it is almost certain that it will be redistributed. Hell, almost half the players that currently play MC...have pirated it...XD
Don't feel down because of that, there really is no need to. Its the way the world works...^^
Trust me, I don't feel down in the least...I just knew that some people would be concerned. I'm pretty sure there's nothing I personally can do about this, unless it's totally on my end; however, I invite anyone concerned to take matters in their own hands, if they really think they can do anything about this. Or provide a suggestion on how to secure links, as I mentioned earlier. That would really help.
Well, it'd peeve me a bit if anything like that happened to something I'd made, but probably not enough to do much about it (maybe I'd send an email if it were an English site requesting credit). It's the internet, and while I don't want people taking credit for my work on a website I go on, some site I've never heard of and will never frequent? It doesn't really effect me, and there's no reason for it to seeing as it's out of my hands after I put it up.
Even if copyright infringement is illegal, I've never felt it to be particularly immoral, just a **** move if you claim credit for what you're distributing (this can usually include not giving credit, too, in most cases it's assumed you made something if you upload it without saying otherwise). I do take offense when someone tries to make money off of it, though.

^ yeah, pretty much agree with everything here. But the moment I see an ad.fly link is when the gloves come off.

Good point...nobody posts original content without someone trying to get a free lunch off you.

Ah. I see....In that case I suppose we'll just have to be boned and deal with it
