There are two sections, in one section texture pack creators post their texture pack for download and update their texture pack by posting a new post in the thread. The way that the users find updated texture packs is by seeing which has had the latest reply.
A texture pack creator adds a topic in each section, users can only reply to texture pack comment threads.
Structure B:
There is one texture pack section, in this section texture pack creators add a thread and that thread is where people reply about the texture pack. This is the current structure.
I think the system works wonderfully the way it is. I don't think everyone should have to make two threads. That will only lead to confusion on the part of both the artists and the fans, and create far more posting mistakes than there are currently. Which, of course, means more work for the moderators.
I feel like A could help out people who are browsing for texture packs and, in turn, help out texture pack creators. I'm tired of my threads becoming buried under a bunch of non-updated packs with a bunch of people leaving comments and bumping.
This could help by allowing our packs (which are actually updated) to not get buried under comments, since all comments would go in the other section.
Agreed, voted for B as it's the better choice. Structure a simply wont work.
Youll update your thread once or twice a month and itll fall off the front page without any posts within a day, making structure a useless for both authors and users.
The current layout has less hassle. I doubt any of us want to manage multiple threads, managing one is difficult enough.
Also, think of the newcomers! Some of them can't even figure out how to post images, do you think they'd be able to figure out how to create and manage two threads? o___O

Exactly. Users would go looking for a new pack and just see a bunch of simple packs and painterly variants. They wouldn't get a chance to see most of the good packs as they would be buried in so deep it would take a drill to get to them.
Honestly, i agree that the system we have now is working just fine. With a texturepack having ONE page, artists don't have to manage 3 threads, and when their thread is popular, it shows up as being more popular, and good packs get the attention they deserve.
Also as a user our current system is working just fine. If i was looking for a texturepack, i would not want to have to look at one thread, switch to another thread to download it, then search for yet another thread, just to give this artist praise or creative critisizm about their work. This would make the whole system so much more complicated than need be.
I voted for D, As not only am i an artist, but i am an active user on this site, checking out texturepacks, downloading them to check them out, looking at mods, and helping point out bugs, or awesome features.

But that already happens. Option A would lessen that.

No, you'll just get buried beneath sepia toned default packs, painterly remixes, and magical transparent ore finding textures, which are cool cause you can like totally see all the way down to the lava.
But that already happens. Option A would lessen that.
Not really. I could go on right now and in the first 3 pages I would see a few big name packs such as Glimmars Steampunk. Option A would not put that within the first 3 pages, it would be on page 49 or something insane.

But what happens to those texturepacks that ARENT 20 minutes old? We might as well we post our pack every hour to stay on top. Instead, this way, packs that are actively being talked about that belong on top, ARE on top.

Packs that are actively talked about by "everyone" may well stay towards the top. Problem is, everyone panics when theirs drop down the list. If a pack is popular, it should be so because a lot of people like it, not because a few keep bumping it.
IMHO

I voted A, but what I'd like in specific is a place to discuss the making of texture packs, texture contests/challenges, and things like Lilyo's thread which is basically a directory of the texture packs being maintained currently. I want this to be linked here, not off where most users won't think to look for formatting rules and help.
Heres the thing though. With option A, popular packs like Doku, JohnSmith, Misa, Photorealism, stealfeather's threads, and steampunk simply wont exist on the Download section as they get updated once or twice a month and will get burried under a constant stream of simple and new packs almost instantly, meaning that the huge majorty of the community who browses the forum for those popular packs just wont ever go to the download section, making it a dead forum filled with crappy simple packs and spam update bumps. It wont profit anyone.
I voted B, even though I don't really use this section. Why didn't you give the modding section a poll like this, since you're planning the changes for us too, and we're also mad about them. >.>

You do make a good point, i just wish we had a better way of identifying popular packs, not by the comments, but views of the page.

Owch. That would definitely hurt the modding section just as much as us... i suggest starting something like we did in your section. Show the mods what you think about the restructure.

Only bumps aren't allowed and those will likely be near the top of the discussion section. Anyone coming from another site to find them will have likely been linked directly to the thread, and most of us who browse regularly will already know how to find them (browse or search).
Now it really just feels like you want to keep the big guys at the top and ignore everyone else.
