BACK ON TOPIC THOUGH! Any more ideas? Why don't we all just boycott the change by just keeping a topic on the about/downloads section?
There's not much of a way to boycott it without texture packers being affected. That goes for the modding section too. So we can boycott it at the expense of the ones who put work into what they post, or not and learn to live with it. Or some other third option.

I like my topic... It's like my little corner of the forums.. Now I hear every update I have to basically leave my house, make a new one and start from scratch? why? For their servers?! I really enjoy looking at some of the older posts and being reminded of old times long gone. Now I wont be able to do that..
Since Dante80 is making some sort of proposal, let's try and help him out with making good points. Here's me trying to pull some of the points made together, let me know if I read your posts wrong and help add to this, guys.
Accroding to degraph:
- Makes too many rules, people won't even want to post.
- Will creat much more span, people adding the same comment in three of the threads, that kind of thing.
- Topic comments will consist of "This is the wrong section for that comment, you need to go here..."
According to Glimmar:
- Just makes things harder for those contrubuting content.
According to myself:
- Such complexity isn't required for texture packs. They're much like skins, and aren't going to ruin anyone's world or anything. The worst you'll get form a bad pack is graphical glitches.
- WIP packs work just as well as completed packs, see above point for the worst that can happen. I wouldn't be against a sub-board for everything that isn't a release but is about pack making (discussion, tutorials), though.
- Nobody that I know of asked us what we thought might work.
Pretty sure I covered that in my word vomit earlier.
To summarize:
*The primary purpose of the changes is to make the forums more efficient by reducing individual topic lengths.
*The texture pack forum is intended to be split into 4 separate forums: packs, bugs, help, and comments.
*Two of these forums are virtually useless to texture packs, and topics will receive next to no replies while making the author's life more difficult.
*Without those two forums, keeping the comments and pack topics separate becomes pointless, as topics will receive no replies and comments will receive them all.
*Therefore, the extra forums will only reduce the length of the primary topic by a wee bit, and will increase our frustration more than a wee bit.
*The only way performance will be improved with the new changes is by forcing creating new topics each update, which will keep the length manageable.
Since the forums will be undergoing changes and the proposed changes are a waste, more useful forums may as well be implemented. For example, separation by genre or resolution.

ALSO:
That's basically it so far. OH and it could tear the community apart by making some texture artists who don't want to manage 4 threads leave to other sites.
Also, wouldn't this make it harder for mods, too? We don't really have enough active mods. I know Faust is around, but there's too much for just one guy already. So, multiply by four? Four threads need to be addressed if the poster breaks the rules.

this, but I highly doubt they would care, just less work for them, which is what it feels like they want.
Ok, how about this?
We all continue making only 1 thread per pack in About/Downloads subforum, and simply ignore other subforums.
Admins will have no choice but to revert the structure to the way it is now.
Don't have time to say much. Keep up the great discussion (and keep it that, a discussion).
To all reading,
Please do not start polls or other petition threads "just because you wanna". This is a great place to voice your concerns. Please don't make more work for me

Curse PremiumOk, well.. he'd have to split his texture packs if so. I dunno man, was just a suggestion. :S
That's .. big..
I KNOW! 16x16 is sometimes intense for me... I couldn't imagine doing 512x512 personally.

Curse PremiumYeah, like that would help ..
The mods and admins would go "RAAAGE" and ban us all :sleep.gif:"
We'd need more people to join us if so. A bigger army.
Well, there is a lot of artists out there...
aaaah... artists make LOVE not WAR... this is getting bad... D:

Yeah, more boards to handle.

:/ Why call yourselves the minecraft forums if your not gonna care about minecraft?

Or ban us....

Assuming this. Which would be a welcome change from posting 4 threads in my eyes.
not so much minecraft, more the texture pack section. I could be wrong though...but I don't really see any mods or evidence to say otherwise.
