Okay guys, I'm just popping in for a moment to see how everything is going before I run to class .
Remember:
1)No bashing/flaming/mod-hating. It gets us nowhere, and ruins our credibility
2)Keep the ideas coming for alternative solutions-- one of the reason they might be doing this is because so many people wanted to see different sections for WIP. (Not that that's the only reason, but it's probably a factor)
And finally,
3)KEEP THIS THREAD AT THE VERY TOP OF THE FORUM. RIOT LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW AND MAKE THEM PAY ATTENTION TO US.

Aye Aye Cap'n! also, might not help but could you add a poll to this thread maybe? I know we have one going in a separate thread already but might as well keep it all in the same place eh?
Why would this ever be done, I mean, the general MCv#.# would be an okay change, except for the extreme division of what could, at this point, be 1 thread and handled better than what it will/would be in the future. Texture packers and modders need these section as they are now, so they can easily see feedback, such as bugs and general good/bad points. No other site operates with the division that has been proposed, chances are because of how little sense it makes.
Then we move to the texture pack section, what it will be. A new thread would be required for each release of Minecraft, which, at this point, is pointless as 1.9 is the last Beta update, as far as is known, and there won't be such standard updates after full release. Not only does the creator have to post 1 new thread during the update, but then 3 others! I mean, I would love to post a pack here, as I plan to once I get more of it done, but now I am seriously considering whether or not I should even mention it on this forums, ever!
The proposed layout is basically just allowing spam, while still deleting "spam" threads. So why not just nuke the forums and move on?
I disagree with that. I find a lot of good stuff in this one section that spans more than one resolution, and splitting that up would mean I don't find as much. It would be cleaner, but I'd rather it be a little more messy than not find as many nice-looking packs by browsing one section more than the other.
Of course if this did go ahead, multi-resolution packs should probably go in the highest resolution's section, with all of the packs there.
Nope, that won't help in itself, we need a complete counter-argument that both addresses the problems this update is trying to deal with and presents convincing evidence for the implementation of a different format in the organization of the content at hand. :wink.gif:
Pretty sure I covered that in my word vomit earlier.
To summarize:
*The primary purpose of the changes is to make the forums more efficient by reducing individual topic lengths.
*The texture pack forum is intended to be split into 4 separate forums: packs, bugs, help, and comments.
*Two of these forums are virtually useless to texture packs, and topics will receive next to no replies while making the author's life more difficult.
*Without those two forums, keeping the comments and pack topics separate becomes pointless, as topics will receive no replies and comments will receive them all.
*Therefore, the extra forums will only reduce the length of the primary topic by a wee bit, and will increase our frustration more than a wee bit.
*The only way performance will be improved with the new changes is by forcing creating new topics each update, which will keep the length manageable.
Since the forums will be undergoing changes and the proposed changes are a waste, more useful forums may as well be implemented. For example, separation by genre or resolution.

Agreed. Post your pack somewhere else, like .. mojangcommunity .. or planetminecraft .. dunno about other sites, lol.
No forum can replace this one, there layout and structure is...blegh! I just know that I will TRY to bear the new changes, but will most likely just leave...

Yeah, but i was thinking of using this as a alternate solution, instead of the idea we are discussing here. I'd rather have a subforum for each resolution that a sub forum for bugs, downloads..etc.

Exactly, we need to be productive here and submit ideas as alternatives to what is being proposed. Lets not be too counterproductive and start bashing eachothers ideas ;D
you know what, with a bigger community this site could be cool. Limit of 15 images in the OP is a tad annoying for how mine was laid out, but its all good (I can understand it for bandwidth etc)
It looks nice, it seems functional, so I can only wait an see I guess.
and holy crap this thread is moving now. I fear as its 1am here I may be off to bed. Keep the discussion going here guys, its good.
Agreed. Post your pack somewhere else, like .. mojangcommunity .. or planetminecraft .. dunno about other sites, lol.
Well I primarily made it as a practice pack, meaning I would need the feedback from this community, as you don't get much (if any) feedback from other communities.
Of course if this did go ahead, multi-resolution packs should probably go in the highest resolution's section, with all of the packs there.
What about people who don't look for the highest res possible? Maybe the pack looks very nice in a lower resolution, but the person wouldn't be going to the highest res section due to personal preference/computer capability.PP/CC.

Well, i have the owner on MSN and IRC, so i could talk to him about the image problem. Other than that, yeah. You should spread the word ^^

Because it wouldn't fit into any 1 resolution.
I provide feedback on the mojangcommunity forums often, alot of the users there do.
Also, the HD Pack thingy.. is it 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128 and 256x256 ?

Haha, your b point turned into a smiley.
But yes, Planetminecraft is not anywhere close to as good as this place.
it did indeed, but that smiley looks like a thief so its all good (I by no means endorse criminal profiling... :wink.gif: )
I think I might check out mojang community and see where its at... can't hurt.
So we're samurais now?Hijah!!

Curse PremiumAn example is:
16x16 packs
For 16x16 packs only
32x32 packs
For 32x32 packs only
64x64 packs
for 64x64 packs only

I agree. Really simple way of doing it and makes it easier for the end user to find a pack based on personal preference/hardware compatibility.

What about multiple res packs such as LB Photo Realism. Then there are 7 threads for it, creating what is essentially spam.
Agree. +1

LB Photo Realism? Not quite sure, as I don't much like it, but I believe they have every common res up to 512x.
512x512 as well I believe.
