War is where the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other. The good people die, and so do the bad ones, but the weak people, like me, we have inherited the earth.
Like DJ said, you could use the items.png from the gui folder and any armor files from that folder from any pack you want. Most times (most files that is), it doesn't matter the resolution.

That's why you do it like DJ said. If you start with a pack and delete everything but what DJ and I mentioned, the texture pack stays intact. After your done, put the pack in the MC tex pack folder and it should work.

Go in the folder and highlight everything. Then (if you have WinRAR) click "Add to Archive" and choose Zip on the left. Now put the zip file in the texture pack folder for Minecraft. (I hope I explained that the right way...)
