Hey guys,
I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, which it probably has. I'm a total beginner when it comes to working with texture packs, so any help you can give on this is appreciated. I recently downloaded a texture pack (DokuCraft to be specific) and have been using it through MC patcher. I like it, except I think I could improve on one of the textures (to use for myself, not to redistribute). I tried going in the texture pack file and changing it on the "terrain.png", but that seems to stop the texture pack from working. Am I doing something wrong, or not doing something I should be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! :wink.gif:
It sounds like it should be working fine, but try this: Click and drag the terrain.png to your desktop. Then open it with the image editing software of your choice. (I use Gimp, myself) Change the texture you want, and save. Then open the texture pack again, click and drag the terrain.png back in, and tell it to "Copy and overwrite." (or something to that effect) If that doesn't work, then I have no idea.

That is EXACTLY what I've been trying. When I go into Minecraft and the Texture Pack selection menu, the texture pack is there but it doesn't have the texture pack icon, and then when I select it it stays on default.

Have you tried re-patching your game? It sort of sounds like something is causing the game to become un-patched. I doubt that's what's happening, but it's worth a shot.

I have definitely patched my game each time. My other texture packs continue to work, it's just the one I modify.

Sorry, I didn't realize. What section would you suggest it be in?
Make sure you go INTO the folder [so you see GUI, Items, Environment, Terrain, etc], and highlight them all.
Now go to "Archive as.." and select .zip.
I was having this problem because I was zipping up the single folder with all the sub-folders in it
And this is the right section. Don't listen to him.
Agh that was my mistake thanks for the help :biggrin.gif:
No problem. Don't forget to +1 me :wink.gif:
Done
Thanks ^^
Thank you so much! It took me a second to figure out what you meant because I'm on a mac but it worked perfectly! Thanks!
No problem :smile.gif:.
I was debating taking a screenshot to show you if you needed it lol. I ran into the same issue and it drove me NUUUTs for like 3 days aha.
