25k views and somewhere around 1.5k downloads is pretty small for my first pack, I guess. :tongue.gif: not bragging or anything, just saying that 'it's my first' is a horrible excuse
If you had no practice at all then managed that, than you sir, are awesome.
More retardation. Its like saying someone can give feedback on single color simple packs. The answer will always be the same, some being a lazy idiot and add details. If people are incapable of trying hard to make an actual texture pack, they shouldn't even be releasing anything since all their minds could produce is one blank color.
As I had said, you only deserve feedback if you tried. So why bother troll all over them if they can't commit as much time as you can to it? Texture packs are just to make the game more fun for others, if you don't like it, don't use it. That's all there is to it.

Then why do people feel the need to post their FIRST packs on the forums?
If you're in some way aesthetically challenged, why bother making a pack? I put in SOO much time and effort into mine. I am garbage at art, but I spent WEEKS thinking of an IDEA before I even STARTED making my pack. And I now put anywhere between 30 minutes and 2 hours per texture :/
its been proven that minecraft does not run faster whether on how good or crappy it looks
This. The Framerate will increase or decrease based on the texture pack size however. Though a nicely done 16x pack won't run faster or slower than a solid colour 16x pack.

That's one of the things I said that I hate just as much as the next guy, but in cases like TheMirrors, not all of them suck. I entirely understand your point, though.

Sorry my post was delayed, it was posted after your 2 or 3 post. But anyway, because of its mass, its hindering the artists who actually attempt and try hard. Time could be spent to comment and learn from those instead. You have to take in advance the amount of people that play minecraft relative to the amount of people that are newcomers to making texturepacks, in which 90% are shitty and show laziness with a total lack of effort.

this is why in my thread I made, I propose adding a screening done by moderators to check out packs and thread formatting before allowing the threads to be posted.

This. Whilst I don't really care either way personally about feedback for my own pack. It's been nice actually having people comment and show interest, give me advice. Now, even if someone posts in my thread, it's gone in about 20 seconds off the main page because the first few posts are the most popular packs, and the rest are bum ass people posting something with "simple" in the name.

Lol, how many times do I have to say it; I get sick of effortless crap, too. But if you spend an hour or so of your personal time on it, you wouldn't appreciate people telling you that you suck and to stop trying, you wan't people to tell you where and how you could improve. A little pity for those who suck isn't going to kill anyone.
Maybe.
Edit; Assuming you were trying, not spamming with the fill tool for an hour, that is. (I'd be amazed if someone did that, though.)

That sounds like an awesome idea, but it seems like it'll be quite the task to get it into place. Best of luck with that.

Well considering this forum seems to lack any actual moderators, probably won't happen ><.
I was also debating maybe having a "council" of the best texture artists this community has to offer, being judges to help decide what gets through. Lol
There's already something like that, they're called trolls. Lol. You might need to get to someone of a high-ish standing, and run it through them. But the bad news is, it's not going to be easy trying to sell a filtering system. They more than likely get many ideas for filtering daily, so standing out would be very useful.
That's not what I mean. By making it I mean that you don't just paste pictures, but actually work on them until they work as textures.
I guess I didn't quite say that right.
That's what I got from reading it lol. None of the realism packs are done from scratch. If any are, I commend that, because that is an EXTREMELY high level of graphic design. I figured you meant people posting pictures into the texture area :tongue.gif:
"If you are going to make a simple pack to make it run faster, set the texture resolution to 8x8 or 4x4 or something. If you're going to make it simple at least have a reason to do so (lack of pixels to add detail)"
There is absolutely NO reason for ANY more simple packs to be posted. There are ****ing millions of them all over the god damned forum now. There are good 4x, 8x, 16x and even 1x packs. It shouldn't be to difficult to find one with the billions out there
I hate to bring up this thread to the front page but I might point out again, that these threads, do nothing. They feed the trolls that come on the forums hearing that this is a great place to troll. They then see people complaining about these sorts of packs 24/7 and they make more of them and post them. Them telling you they are not a troll is not believable. If they actually just dont have the nous to realise these packs are a dime a dozen then that is just sad.
my point being here, these threads don't help, they dont enlighten anybody to the fact that there is too many of these packs, they do nothing but give us somewhere to *****, which is not what it should be about.
To counter the problem of these packs, simply stop posting in them. Dont complain about them, dont tell them its been done before, dont bother to trash them cause they are stupid/trolling/dont actually have what it take to make a pack.
just leave them, and post in a pack you like to bump it to the first page. They will disappear and they will die.
I love this texture artist community, but I thought we were past this, and I thought we were being the better men/women now.
/end rant.
I will leave this thread to die now.

Wait, that's all you need to put into it? Dammit! I put 5 hours into an axe and scrapped it!
Anyways, it seems that my previous post here has went unnoticed. As always. Time for short posts.
This arguing is exactly what I would expect from this section. The noobs vs. the non-noobs.
Lmaoo. Oh don't worry. I'v put alot more into a few textured. I think I spent a grand total of about 4 hours on my TNT, redoing it over and over.
I went through about 37 different versions of grass, etc. ><
On average though I either can get through a texture a bit quicker, or it takes me forever ><
I also scraped three wooden swords because the blade was always odd looking or waaay to thick D:
