That could get pretty cramped, what about in a sub-forum?
Unfortunately, people will still post outside of the subforums. They always do. Just like how half these new packs are breaking half a dozen of this sections rules.
Well you can't take simple packs as bad, when a lot of time they're people's first packs. So here's an idea.
No, because making a simple pack as a first pack is retarded and dumb on multiple levels. Its so simple that anyone can do it in a few minutes. So it is bad as hell, and does not challenge yourself at all. Releasing something like that on the forums is even worse. Why do people actually think of doing something like that in which they took no effort for?
At least add some pizazz, like Frenden did. He made his totally unique.

There's enough of them, there might was well be a simplepacks.net. Really, it just seems a bit overdone with them. Just a way to keep them from being every other pack. Sub-forums based on resolution would be awesome, but that's almost guarenteed to not happen.
LIES! Now if I can find the post... Found it Here ya go!
Interesting. I did, however, find out one thing in my own texture-pack attempts: 32x grass in alien purple will drop an expensive graphics card to about 25 fps. (Don't ask me to post my pack. I am a terrible pixel artist, and my work will likely never see a public release to the forums.)
My point is, though, everyone starts small. How will they improve with no feedback by the people who have experience? They just need a starting point to build off of. If they had no idea what they need to be better, they can't do such. And it's not like you should expect someone's first pack to be amazing. Even the original terrain.png probably had a different designs at first, and all we're doing is improving upon the simplicity of that to our best ability. All I asked for was a little control over thinking that you should get an award for posting a simple pack every 30 minutes when they have practically no differences. #Sparethenoobs
This entire thread sums up half of my hatred of this section. The other half is just how stupid people can be. Texture packs are something to work on, and I could care less if someone makes a simple pack, as long as they don't post it. I would rather see a pack that was shitty and actually had somework on it than to see another damn simple pack!

Everyone starts small?! **** you and your generalization! I use a ****ing 32x pack for practice, spending hours on single textures! You are excusing lazyness here, lazyness to the nth degree! There is no reason someone else can't make a detailed pack, the practice I have done is my first actual pixel work, so no excuses you ****er!
Sorry about my overuse of the word ****. I try not to use it too much, but sometimes I get a bit pissed off. Usually at stereotypes or other generalizations.

You can't ask for feedback on pure, solid colour textures. Or when all you did was smudge the default textures. :/
OT: I don't get your sig.
OT: Yeah, don't create photoreal packs from pure images. They can be used as a reference though.
If you make a good photo-real texture pack you make it by MAKING IT.
i disagree. if you go out and take your own pictures and edit them enough then they can look pretty nice. It just requires a lot of work which most "Realism" packs don't bother to do.

25k views and somewhere around 1.5k downloads is pretty small for my first pack, I guess. :tongue.gif: not bragging or anything, just saying that 'it's my first' is a horrible excuse

Well obviously there IS a limit on how little work there is. If it's as little as solid colors, than by all means, keep it to yourself. If they legitimately tried, and it still sucks, it's worth the effort of some feedback. I just don't want thousands of the same thing, it's just spamming uselessness, especially when you know you can do better.

I agree. And this isn't an ART class. There are tutorials, and you can post threads asking people if they would mind giving tips if you showed them your packs, etc.
There is no need to post your poorly done pack, especially when you've got NO idea how to make one correctly ><

More retardation. Its like saying someone can give feedback on single color simple packs. The answer will always be the same, some being a lazy idiot and add details. If people are incapable of trying hard to make an actual texture pack, they shouldn't even be releasing anything since all their minds could produce is one blank color.
I think the issue for all these simple packs is because their creators are really young. They just all want to feel proud of doing something great with the most minimal effort ever, which leads to the junk that gets piled in the texture pack section. Of course, it does not apply to all the young people. Those are just more advanced and a unique group, while the others are just in the typical and common group.

Unfortunately, thats all this section is now. THOUSANDS Of the same BAD packs. The same BAD concepts, the same BAD effort involved.

This is why I impose a dictatorship.

Curse PremiumAre you referring specifically to doku rehashes or RPG in general?

My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.

Then it isn't that expensive...
I'm making a texture pack: (16x) Silent Night
I agree. My old P3 IBM computer running onboard graphics can run a 32x pack in Minecraft at a steady 45FPS ><
