I have no hatred against simple packs - things that are made to be easy on the eye. I hate simple packs with no effort invested. Five minute works of art that degrade from the noble profession of minecraft texture artistry.
I agree mostly. I think the noise filter can be used in limited amounts for quick and effective grass tops, gravel, etc. or to make a flat texture slightly more interesting. Also, solid colors (and, by extension, simple texture packs) reduce lag and can be used with old computers or laptops to make the game less of a processor hog. Other than that, you are completely right.
Also, something you didn't point out that I hate: NEVER attempt photo-realism. It looks okay on a lot of one block, but it causes lag and tiles like ****.

If you lag, then that's your PC.
But the tiling is kind of true, it takes definite skill to make a actual good photoreal pack but they should definitely be made as some of them look quite good and there are people that really like them.
Also, he didn't mean you can't use the noise filter, just not use the noise filter to make a entire texture.
Yes sir. I use the hell out of the noise filter. Then I end up editing it because it didn't do a good enough job. Noise filter tiles like crap too.
