Exactly, if they can;t do that then they shouldn't be making texture packs
Actually its really helpful in creating a new texture pack from your own stuff, instead of copying and pasting the default texture into a different texture pack

Everything you need to get the vanilla terrain or other files is listed HERE.
If it isn't, make a request there and it can be. It needs more people visiting there anyway (instead of asking the same questions or posting threads that aren't stickied)

Texture vanilla
Its just used for texturing not for releasing purposes

well it is only used for texturing not for displaying. But even so this is a quicker way to get the default pack
