Okay, mystery textures. Any one know what the following are supposed to be?
-Vertical blue line to the left of the bed
-Speckled beige texture two to the right of the isometric cake
-Vine (?) things along the right edge, beside the pistons and cake.
-All the new textures along the bottom, between the breaking animation and lava.
I think the vertical blue line are the new iron bars, the speckled things are the stalks to the mushrooms (which are right above), the vines are probably right, and the bottom row has the explosion animations. Just basing that off of what i've seen in 1.8 videos.

Iron bars are right next to the trapdoor texture. And the vertical blue speckled line near the bed looks like the glass pane side.

"The explosion is 4x4 frames of 32x32 in a 128x128 png, animated from upper left to lower right"
The explosion animation, for those who don't know, is like a ball of smoke disappearing. There's a video on youtube with it shown if you don't understand.
A very nice thing for jeb to do, and a thanks to the op for posting this up. It will make a world of difference in the next update. (I hope they continue to do this with further updates :biggrin.gif:)

They did them with a lot of past updates, so I'm sure they will.
1) Most likely the side of glass panes, as it has the same colors as the default glass texture
2) Brown giant mushroom
3) Top two are stems for pumpkin and watermelon (I'm guessing)
4) I have no idea
One of the things on the bottom is a footprint overlay.

Oh wow, it does look like one! Footprints would look pretty cool, granted they're actually added.
Now to just figure out what the other 3 are...
Between the footprints and the lava has to be the Town Borders, first two for the border, third for the vertical shiny part, if that is how Notch plans to implement the borders ofcourse.
the four mushroom textures are 2 for the 2 types, and 2 for the stalks, maybe the speckled texture is for the underside of the mushroom crown like some real mushrooms.
The vines under the wheat fit the pumpkin/melon vines well, but what is the third one? more vines? EDIT2: The wiki is a wonderfull place : http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Ivy
Next to the fish must be the rotten meat?

He has been doing it for a while now, since 1.5? maybe, i forget. Helps get the texture packs ready for release, Jeb is awesome that way :smile.gif:
Well aside from those weird things along the bottom of terrain.png. Gonna leave those as default until I can get some testing done on the update day to figure out their exact purpose...
Anyway yeah, as mentioned Jeb tweeted me the dimensions to the explosion animation. Here's a png I made of what the vanilla layout for the explosion animation frames will be if my interpretation of his dimensions is correct.

Curse PremiumOh, that one. I think that's the inside of the mushroom stem, kind of like how logs have the inner texture thing.
Iron bars are right next to the trapdoor texture. And the vertical blue speckled line near the bed looks like the glass pane side.
Oh wow, how could I miss that obvious block. It's definitely the side of the new glass panes then, being the same color as glass.
