EDIT: after reading a bit more, (and to save space) you could add a spoiler to all the questions and title it FAQ, that way this would be a lot more organized and you could add plenty more stuff, like links to tutorials and all, how to install, blah blah blah, kinda of like the texture pack university.

Very nice. This forum definitely needs a good tutorial like this. You covered the most important stuff.
However, I have some suggestions.
- Pictures cannot be emphasised enough. Maybe some bold letters? pretty much every newbie gets this wrong.
- List more alternate hosts and software. Like Photoshop for example. And perhaps add http://filesmelt.com and http://www.photobucket.com to the list of image hosts.
- While you did make clear sections and added plenty of empty spaces. It still doesn't read as well as it should. It's a fair amount of text and there's no way every newbie is going to read everything. To make it more readable, I think adding pictures as examples will help a lot. Then even when just skimming the thread the reader will get the general idea.

This was okay except for one, huge, glaring fallacy. You told the person to not make a simple pack.
A lot of simple packs are amazing, such as Rawrush. A tutorial isn't a place for you to specify how to make one kind of texture pack, unless it's universal, it's not top quality.

By 'simple', I mean those annoying bland one-colored barf packs that we get eighty of every day. Rawrush is a great pack, yeah, but I wouldn't put it in the category of simple as it obviously took effort. 'Simple' is when you simply take the paintbucket and area selector and go nuts, y'know?
