I want its effect on my grass to be as neutral as possible, as my grass has both greens and browns in it, kind of like long blades of grass on top of dirt. When the .png file interacts with it, it doesn't match the side of my grass block.
I tried making it transparent, that just turned my grass black.
I tried making it white, it tinged everywhere white (as I expected, honestly)
I finally tried just removing it from the pack, and it defaulted to a bright green color.
I just want it to have a minimal effect on my grass. Any tips?
Sure, I'll give you a screenie where you can see the side of the block, which is the desired coloration, and the current state of things, which is atrocious. One sec.

I thought its effects were only applied to the grayscale portions of the two textures (#0 grass and #22 side grass). If you make those two textures color, does it still alter them?
In the case that it does, maybe just make the whole foliagecolor.png a solid "greenish" color and balance your texture around that? :\
Take a look at Jolicraft, he uses a full color grass and side grass texture...
Possible solution: Upload grasscolor.png and I'll take a look.
On a side note, you should work on your stone, its too blurry at the moment, and dirt doesnt tile amazingly.. just a few suggestions. You can always check out my tutorials if you'd like =)
Stone is a placeholder, and the dirt isn't totally tiled yet on the bottom. That's about 5 minutes of editing for me though, I'm not concerned about it - it's probably that little semi-sphere you notice. It will also be less bright in the end. I'm confident that It'll look fine in the end.
I'll check out jolicraft's side grass. I'm actually quite surprised I didn't think of that myself. If that fails, I'll upload the .png you asked for, although it's really just a colorized standard one.
I had another thought:
If like I said above, the effects of foliagecolor.png are only applied to grayscale, you could just have the grass parts grayscale and the brown parts...brown. The grass would change with biome and the brown would be unaffected.
Otherwise, if you don't want that, try what I mentioned above.
I still feel like it tinged the brown parts pretty severely as well. I did try that, but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I'll try it again in conjunction with the other suggestions in the thread, thanks.
Thanks for your collective helpfulness!
Also, I'm not confident that it's only applied to greyscale. If I leave it saturated (with it's color), I still get the obnoxious aquamarine green color you see there. It's a bummer.
Oh, and MLGM, your banner takes you to the post where you talk about making a banner. Consider changing it to the post with the information.

No. If you do that, it will load the one that comes with the default Minecraft texture pack. If you read the original post you would see that...

NOTE: I got these from a custom Painterly Pack that uses grass/leaves without biome shading. All credit goes to Rhodox (Creator of Painterly Pack).
