I guess that is completly right to be honest, but what else am i going to do? i just want to show people my first texture pack , if i could keep ither texture packs on the first few pages and post my own I would, i just wanted my first texture pack to atleast be slightly known.
Continue working on it, but focus on integrating a style or theme to the pack that each block will follow. Working with a theme may be easier than relying on a personal artist style to differentiate you. (Some random examples: Quilt Craft - everything looks like it's made of cloth patches, or pack based on the textures of your favorite video game.)
Look at other packs (both simple and detailed) for both inspiration and to avoid styles that have already been used too frequently. Visit some of the texture pack tutorials that people have been kind enough to write up; they're incredibly useful. Also think about reading some of the texture pack reviews people post up. They can offer a lot of insight on what works and what doesn't.
Then, after you've worked on this some more to the point where it looks original, post your new work here and re-bump this thread. Explain what you've been doing to improve and people will most likely offer tips and comments to help you along. This forum is generally super friendly as long as you show you're really interested in putting out the best work you can.
it isnt finished yet so it didnt take to long but it took about 15 hours all together :tongue.gif:
(don't even comment about it)
also, this is my first texture pack so don't expect an amazing 128x128 hd texture pack
Impressions is my first texture pack. In fact I have had a lot of firsts this summer. First use of photoshop, first banner and avatar creations, first texture pack creation. Don't use that as an excuse. I am glad you want to make a texture pack but you should do some research first.
First of all, if you really want people to use your work you need to create something that is different. There are thousands of packs like this and you now have to compete with all of them. Impressions on the other hand has around three competitors (ie. packs based on an art style). Paying attention to your target audience is very important.
Just to give you reference point 100+ hours have gone into Impressions and I am no where near done. Making a good texture pack is a long process. Don't give up though. Read some tutorials about texture pack creation and about how to use the program you have.

When i originally started this i intended just to try for fun, not for becoming a texture pack developer. often, research isn't fun so i just made a texture pack for fun.

If it doesn't sound 'fun' it's probably not your game. Myself and all the other texture pack artists ENJOY doing what we do.

I would enjoy it too but its hard when other texture pack developers can't accept the fact that other texture packs exist and bring yours down the list.Instead why don't you work on your own work, cause honestly arguing won't make the pack go away. so why don't you go annoy some other smooth texture pack developer.
It's just annoying because we put clear effort into our work. This can be made very quickly. I'm not saying you didn't put effort into it, but that's what most believe.
I'm going to refrain from posting here again; the last time this happened, it spiralled out of control and into the gutter.
If only themirror would think that way, or i could delete comments :/

No need to get angry, pal. We're giving you input on your pack, which is what the point of even uploading one is. Not all input you get will be positive. If you're not prepared for negative input, don't bother uploading anything.

Im prepared for negative input, but your hating isnt neccesary. 15 people have downloaded it, not much, but thats 15 people who didn't care if it's smooth, they downloaded it anyways. it's not just your opinion, other people like smooth texture packs.
also, im ten years old. i wanted to get a start on my texture pack befroe 1.8 was out, i heard it would be out today and i only had a few days left. so i had a feew days to start a texture pack. igve never really been a great artist so im just getting a start and getting the feel of what its like making a texture pack.
Age means nothing, it's all about the maturity, and you seem to have plenty of that; well done.
Anywho, good luck; you seem to be mentally stable, so I hope to see good stuff from you.

I'm sorry, but I gotta say this. You mentioned this was your first pack in the original post, using it as an excuse. I'm working on a first pack in 32x as a practice pack that may or may not be released.
I've been through 10 different textures for glass, and I'm finally halfway pleased with it. I spent 2 hours on the axe and I still need to fix it up.
An hour a block, not by choice originally, just till I was happy with it, but now I plan on that much + however much extra is needed, at this point I'll probably be doing 2-3 hours per block, and redoing the 6 or so I've done.
That is never an excuse, and age is not either. If you plan to do something, do it right. And why would it matter to get something out before 1.8 if this is what you bring? A smooth pack?
I will agree with TheMirror about your maturity, especially for your age, but you really need to rethink everything. The fact that you make a pack at that age is, in itself, something you could rethink.
You put no effort into this at all, really. You just made everything one or two colors.
Don't use it's your first as an excuse. See the one in my signature? It's MY first. 20,000+ views and over 500+ downloads on v15.
Next time, TRY. We have too many smooth packs like this.
I honestly don't think anyone gives a **** on how much downloads/views you have. All you can say is "No, I don't like this because we have to much of these texture packs" and left it there. I think your starting to look like an asshole in my opinion. I do get where your coming from though with the "simple" texture packs. But you don't have to be an absolute ass about it.
So you're going to add actual texture after 1.8? Why do you have to post now then? Posting a simple pack now will just get hate. Posting an actual unique pack later will get positive attention and praise.
Ok, I am going to explain this one time. One. Time.
When you make packs like this that there are already hundreds of, they clog the first few pages of the forum. Because of this, the texture packs that are made for real get pushed down and no one sees them. This results in packs people don't want at top, and packs people do want on bottom. See, it can be fun to make a pack if you take time and try. If everyone took time, it wouldn't be as clogged, everyone would find a texture pack they like, and the people who deserve recognition.
Also, to the "I can't stop people from hating me" thing you said or whatever, people have opinions. Get used to it.
Hope you understand this clearer now, and next time try to make something worth noticing, and not more "simple" packs to pile up.

the reason was to get a feel of what people like or what people will say, i'll also know what to say if people are hating. cause at the moment as you can see, i'm not good at responding to hate.

My new plan is just to add texture to this one, then after 1.8 i will make a sort of medieval texture pack or something cool like that. then atleast it'l be easier to make unique
