I've been trying to apply texture packs for 5 hours straight today, and so far the only noticeable result I've gotten is that I accidentally erased my saved world.
I'm using a macbook pro and I started out trying to get the LB photorealism skin. I followed every possible set of installation instructions (I tried using the recommended patch installer) and every single time I wound up with the skin being an option in my minecraft mods & textures window, but whenever i selected it nothing would happen, and I there was nothing I could do to make it have any effect. I tried downloading the different versions of the skin until I finally gave up and moved on to other skins, but every single time I got the same result.
Please, I just want to add some style to my minecraft, and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
1. Close Minecraft
2. Delete the Bin folder found in USER<LIBRARY<APPLICATION_SUPPORT<MINECRAFT
3. Run Minecraft so it re-downloads the minecraft folder
4. Close Minecraft
5. Apply MCPatcher's HD Texture/Font fix (Here)
6. Download LB Photorealism
7. Drag & Drop the .zip file into MINECRAFT<TEXTUREPACKS
8. ???
9. Profit

Did you select it from the 'Texture Packs And Mods' option? That's important
Yep
when I select that, it already has the photorealism texture selected but there is no visible effect of it on the game. No matter what I do it just won't work.

No good. Still the same thing.
