Here I will post the process of how I sprite textures, by making a texture pack myself and showing you the individual steps. So, as for now, this only has 1 texture, that being Wooden Planks. I will continue this, and if you want to see a certain texture first, just comment it.
Step 1 : So we start out with a blank canvas, as always.
Step 2 : Then we'll outline where the defined lines should be.
Step 3 : Now, we just get the fill tool, and fill in the basic colors.
Step 4 : Time to get out the brush! I set the opacity to 50 and just shaded in random places.
Step 5 : Honestly, that looked reaaaly dirty. So, lets blur a bit.
Step 6 : And now, we define the lines again.
Step 7 : OH NOES. Tiles are veery BAD.
Step 8 : This is nothing a bit of smudging can fix C:
Step 9 : This is what it looked like. Looks like it's not shaded....
Step 10 : Let's cheat. Use the NOISE TOOL!!!
Suggest other textures?
I would like to see how you do Gravel. Always a pain to find something decent when it comes to that block.

If someone says God speaks to them; they're a saint.
If someone says ____ speaks to them; they're insane.
The wooden planks looks fairly helpful! Its a pain in the **** for me to get them right.
(that's why I don't release my texture packs, I think they look too ugly.)

Ah, pretty interesting :smile.gif: Oh, and a suggestion for after you've done the sand and such, an ore block? Say, coal or iron? But, yeah, I'll be keeping my eye on this, very cool :biggrin.gif:

GRAVEL
Step 1 : To say simply. Gravel is a whole bunch of rocks. >:C
Step 2 : Let's fill it in as always, shall we?
Step 3 : And now we put in the basic shading. Also, we define.
Step 4 : Let's add some color noise! :biggrin.gif:
Step 5 : We're going to need to make it show a lot of rocks. Resizing!
Step 6 : It's too sharp. Let's blur a bit.
Step 7 : Tiles are always bad. I suck. :C
Step 8 : BOOM. Fixed.
Step 9 : DONE! Final Gravel.
COBBLESTONE
Step 1 : Let's do the usual filling in color thing.
Step 2 : Then make the basic outline, of the rocky cobblestone.
Step 3 : Then, we'll add some darker shading in the outline, as well as highlight the rock itself.
Step 4 : Almost done! Let's add a noise filter, then blur a bit.
Step 5 : Here's the tiling.
