i was having some problems also with the instalation. I figured out that he zipped the whole folder, but not the content (assets etc.)
I just downloaded it and no, if you unzip the pack there's only its content, no unnecessary folders. There's no installation worth mentioning, if you don't know how to install a resource pack you may want to check the wiki and learn the basics of Minecraft.
Caves are really scary looking with the luminance pack, bravissimo! If the main pack had support for all of the mods I use I'd install it in a heartbeat because I love the way it looks.
In some spots, it's REALLY dark. So dark, I can't see a THING. If you could fix this, then I would be grateful.
You can fix it by yourself by doing the following:
1) Only at light level 0 it's pitch dark, from 1 to 7 is dark but you can still see; if you can't, maybe your screen's brightness is too low, try turning it up a little;
2) I like to play at Moody brightness level but maybe it's not enough for you: try turning it up a little but I suggest no more than 30% or the shadows will wash away;
3) PR Luminance features 3 alternative versions, including one with brighter lights (open the pack and check the readme file).
I'm having problems installing the lightmap, I've followed the instructions but it hasn't worked. Also, fantastic job on both the pack and the lightmap, they look fantastic.
EDIT: Whoops I'm an idiot, I forgot I didn't have optifine installed. It works perfectly now and the only complaint I have is that it's pitch black in zero light. It's realistic, but inconvenient. Otherwise perfect.

IMO vanilla is way too convenient: a game based on caving and featuring monsters coming for you at night should treat darkness with a little more respect, I find it absurd how you can walk at night with no light and still see and how you can see inside a perfectly closed room underground just by tweaking the video options.
The same goes for stuff like making compasses useless because you can just press a button to get a decent GPS, but I digress...
You know what? Maybe in the next update I'll include a version with more visibility at 0 light level.
This is a lovely texture pack, probably one of the nicest I've seen... but once I've downloaded it, would it be possible for me to go into it, so to speak, so that I could restore some of the defaults? Say, ice transparency, mob textures, and default cave lighting?

Or does that require some coding?
Do as Hoodoo said above. If you want default cave lighting (I suppose that means white torch light) don't delete "world0", though, or you'll lose daylight effects too. Instead, open the pack and you'll see a "read me" text file: read it for instructions about using a different lighting effect, in this case what you need is the "shading only" version.

Hmm... I can't seem to find the readme.
EDIT: Ah! It was in the Luminance resource pack. Thanks!
I have made a video on it and I would appreciate it if you could check it out
Thanks, man, too bad for the lag I got just one criticism: playing at max brightness didn't show the lighting in effect and that's one of the main features of this pack. I'm putting this in the OP, thank you again.
Note: this video made me notice that I accidentally left some WIP textures (such as the dragon) in the release. Damn.
This is legendary stuff, but I got a few recommendations that'll make it a bit more shocking.
Make it so that entities that are on fire make light!
Example: If a bat is on fire, flying around in a cave, it'll be a light source for you! Or if an arrow is on fire.
Make it so that if you're holding a torch, it makes light.
Example: if you need one here, you're weird.
Well... I think I've installed this differently to you's.
Instead of putting the file into my resource packs file, I put it into my mods file. It works just like a mod, and I'm not seeing any different textures, but I am seeing shading. It looks beautiful. So, idk
