So, I am making a TP (you probably won't see it here for a bit, I want to get a lot of it done before I put it up completely) and I need some guidance. I can't seem to find a style for myself. See, while my stone and wood textures are more realistic than cartoony, my planks and cobble textures are on the cartoony side. Could I get some tips

The cobble to me reminds me WAY too much of Good Morning Craft (if you compare them they are extremely similar...) but I just can't make a good rough cobble.
Yes, that is my problem with the two. I am probably going to scrap the color scheme (and shape of cobble) of both and make something much more gritty. I am a happy person, but tend to enjoy much grittier things. :tongue.gif:
They look good I would definatly make the stone look alittle less the color of gravel make it more grey instead of peachish. Grey like your cobble. Also they dont look very cartoony they look pretty real I like it.
You're running into the "cartoony vs. shaded predicament" because your organics are being treated very loose and natural and your fabricated textures [cobble/ wood planks] have very contrived coloring and shading, with smooth gradients that are very linear. which is probably why you feel they're conflicting. Cobble (especially on a 16x16 scale) needs to convey so much information on such a small size that it has a tendency to turn into a pixelated mess. I really like your wood and stone actually. Simple and really gets the point across.
My advice if you were looking to adapt that style to your fabricated textures, is not to redraw them, but just add some MILD dodging and burning, and then a really small noise. Again, it's easier for me to show, then write a novel

EDIT: Personally, I wouldnt get too caught up in the color scheme of things until you get a bunch of textures you really like, and then start conforming them to a color scheme. I found that if I got locked into a color of one texture at the start, it started to influence the colors of everything I did after, in a bad way. When I just did the texture and only really focused on it's texture and not the color, I was able to plow through them and then color adjust after.
I agree with Degraph all you need to change is a little burn here and a dodge there, that is what made my texture pack into what it is, some like it, some don't :tongue.gif: but in all it looks like a good start!
