Umm, maybe put down the contrast a bit, it looks too much like a cobble texture to me. Don't make it too crazy, it should just be a basic stone texture, nonetheless, it looks very good.
Something that I recommend when working on textures in gimp is to use the tile filter before you actually take it in game.
So have the stone as it's own 32x32 file, then go to Map - Tile, and make the tiled image as large as you want. It really helps you pick out where your should tweak it.
My personal suggestion; There's a lot of gaps and too-strong highlights that make the stone look like it's sort of melty and wet. Perhaps dim the highlight a little and fill in the empty spots with a few more stones to break up the tiling?
the problem is tiling, unless your edges match, its always going to look odd. try using the Make Seamless filter to turn it into a proper tiling texture.
Be careful with Make Seamless. While it will help connect the edges, it can sometimes make tiling look infinitely worse.
Count Doku? Doku looking stone texture? Plz explain dis black magick
Anyway, in what way does it look awful while playing? Tiling issue, contrast issue, etc. ?
Just a pun on the beloved texture pack creator plus I got a nice avatar to go with, anyways I appreciate the help. I will definitely adjust it some more and make it more seamless when tiled, plus make it less wet or polished looking.
btw nice advice Lahore
EDIT: It actually tiles pretty decent, just looks weird lol
any ideas on how to improve or should i just toss the texture?
