Hello everyone, I am Hyp, and with the help of a good friend, 42and19, I have decided to start trying my hand at a few HD textures. I only have a few parts of them done in the terrain, and I am very limited on the screenshots. I will try and post more soon for you guys to better see how they look as a building.
being a fairly young artist, I know I have a lot ahead of me and a lot more time to learn this stuff. Please leave any feedback and how to improve and if suggested I will post a download for the terrain so you can view it in-game.
i really like the brick looks nice but y did u double post
BTW i think you should edit the dirt change it up a little BUT for ur first text pack its reak=lly good make more.
i love all the stones and sand but the dirt looks too much...standing out (like, you can see each dirt block easily from afar)
and the wood looks rusty
But this has potential, a lot, i'll definitely download when it's finished
EDIT: the grass top looks great, just the dirt parts that look not so nice
And the breaking animation...i don't really like it :sad.gif:

The dirt is meant to look like that, might adjust it just a little. Also the wood is supposed to have a reddish hue, not finalized on that either. Sorry you dont like the break anime, just trying to have one until i can come up with a better one.
the biggest problem I have so far is there is no consistency, you have cartoon grass, realistic cobble (I assume its cobble) You need to find a theme and hold to it, or a style. You have some big tiling issues at the moment to, which kills a pack to me, as I have stated in other threads, I am finicky about tiling down to the smallest little anomalies.
Other than the tiling issues the cobble looks good, but it also looks like a resized image cause of the way it is, not hand drawn.
I would highly recommend reading these two tutorials thoroughly :smile.gif:
take your time mate, and practice makes perfect. Don't rush things out cause you feel you need to. Patience, perseverance, pixels, highlighting and contrast are all things you need.
I am not trying to dishearten you at all with this post, I am just being as honest as I can, cause if people aren't honest there is no way you can grow as an artist.

:smile.gif: good luck mate.
Not at all, appreciate the comment. That is what I am struggling with too, finding a theme. I first started out just wanting to try to make a couple textures and then got carried away. I see the tiling issues, which I am still trying to fix. The cobble is hand drawn though, took me the most time out of all. Thanks and credit to 42and19 for helping me and giving me permission to use Impressions for a reference and/or placeholders.

The name's Hyp, and I am trying to become a better artist!.
I'm having a real problem with the cobble being cobble taken directly from Drasavil with the borders removed from it...
that isn't actually what I did. I hand drew it, and this was at the time before all of this license stuff got put into effect. I am actually in the progress of changing the cobble to a more olden themed one. Rounder stones and darker. IF I am not allowed to look at other packs for references on ideas with he new policy I will take the pics down now.

(although it is for 32x32 it has some great ideas and helpful hints about pixel art)
