Hey , so I've looked up so many youtube videos and I still don't know how to add texture packs. I'll download the pack, go to %appdata% , find .minecraft , put it in the texture pack folder, put whenever i do this and hit texture packs in game, it just has the default , when i try to hit open pack folder, it just shows me the folder with the texture pack folders in it and nothing else. please help a brother out.
when you extract them, do you highlight the folder itself, or the contents?
When i hit download and in google chrome's download thing , i hit show in folder, and whatever is there in front of me, i extract it all to the desktop.
You need the ACTUAL .zip folder. Do NOT extract the contents of the archived file. If the file extension is .rar use WinRAR to extract it, then re-archive it as .zip

Yes. As soon as it's downloaded, hit show in folder, then copy and paste it directly into your texture pack folder.
Then you can select it. If it DOESN'T show up when you go to mods and texture packs, than the idiot made a .rar file out of it, which is kind of rare to see anymore.
If it is a .rar file, just unzip the contents into a folder, then rezip it as a .zip file.

When I download them they're not in ZIP files, i usually just extract them to my desktop and put them in that minecraft folder you're talking about.
