So? They're just going to laugh, go make some more ******** policies, let the forum **** itself in the ass some more, and go do whatever it is they normally do (AKA nothing).

Guys:
NO FLAMING.
Cursing and shouting insults will only get this thread locked!
At first I thought that this fairly unpleasant situation would be somehow solved. However, not long ago those topics about "stealing" Aether Mod were deleted and now situation is looking more grim. If I were the developer of a mod or a texture pack I would definitely take my creation out of this site ASAP, and I fully understand those who will choose to do so. I'm pretty sure that a lot of people (and I suppose there will be quite a bunch of artists and modders amidst them) will leave this community (or at least stop creating stuff) if nothing will be done about these new rules, and that will be the beginning of community's end. Dixi.

Agreed, this thread is mean to be an organized protest, not a riot. Calm down and go shoot some zombies or something. As for my grammar, yeah it isn't the best.

Everyone, imagine this with me. A forum with no texture packs(good ones for that matter), no mods, no artwork. Its an entirely different scene, and I am SURE they do NOT want that happening. If they don't take action, so be it. I can do other things.

The name's Hyp, and I am trying to become a better artist!.
Ok, while the thread moves to more calm discussion, I must voice my number one fear about this entire thing: Loss of content. What if a person created something a while ago but had to leave for something. Perhaps they're taking a three-week vacation and won't have internet access. So suddenly, their thread is deleted because they missed the discussion, and they missed the announcement, and never updated their thread. Sure they can appeal to get it back, of course.
But what if this person is away from the internet for a longer period of time. Say, one year because they're doing something with restricted internet access during this time? They miss the discussion, they miss the announcement, and then suddenly for one year their content becomes completely unavailable. That doesn't sound very good, now does it?
What is the reasoning behind your opinion? Please, share your opinions and insights with us so that we can have a proper discussion and get this resolved.
Well isn't this just frakkin ridiculous. All they are basically doing is ostracising the talented artists and modders of this community. Give it time and all that will be left are the talentless theives that the modders are supposed to be trying to eliminate. The onus should be on people who use other artist's textures to prove they are allowed to, not for original content creators to have to police the forums and risk punishment for delivering their hard work. It's completely unacceptable, and if this policy isn't changed I hope people do remove their hard work from here and put it somewhere it is truly appreciated by everyone, both the community and the people who are supposed to police it. I for one will certainly be following them if they are forced to do this. This is just a forum that can be replaced by any other. What can't be replaced is the excellent and dedicated work of artists and modders. They are something special - this forum, however, is not.

This is also a big concern of mine. Which is why I went to all the TP artist I was in contact with and let them know about the new policies. The pack I am worried about the most is Glimmar's Steampunk. He is dealing with a lot of issues in his life and barely has time to post anything much less read new policies. The shear amount of work that has gone into that pack is amazing and to see it get deleted because it didn't follow a new rule would be a travesty.

Isn't the point of this NOT to have to do it? No one should have to police their thread, or delete it to protect their art. It makes no sense to me....

You're right, but I have no idea how to do any of this stuff, and it's kind of frustrating :tongue.gif:

Bump, because I feel that it is important to see the other side of the issue. Nothing will be fixed until we can compromise, and we can't compromise until we know what the other side needs/wants/considers important.
By US laws any work you create falls under "All Rights Reserved" which is a form of license. By hosting the work and providing it to others to use you are exercising your right to allow others to use it. The Creative Commons licenses provided are easy to understand and provide a quick way to explain which rights you wish to control. Of course you can come up with your own license or use another source.
Here is the legal issue with moderators acting upon a tip from a third party in a matter. Original content owner has given permission to content redistributor to use their original content. Third party comes along and tells a moderator that content redistributor is infringing on original content owner's rights. Moderator deletes content redistributor's thread. That moderator has now infringed on the rights of the content redistributor and the original content owner making the moderator liable for damages.

Curse PremiumPlus, a mod private messaging a member saying "no matter how much you flame, the rules aren't going to change", is completely unprofessional.
