Those planks look really nice. The bricks can possibly use a bit more variety in
color, but the physical layout is quite nice. Maybe a more orange-y color
could complement the purple and red bricks. Also I'm not a fan of
all the longer bricks being red. Maybe you can alternate red and orange
here, like the purple and red, alternating bricks, already made.
On the topic of stone, I prefer a more saturated look. I'm not
such a big fan of grey, pale, colored stone textures. Especially considering,
the Aztec type theme, a more saturated, darker stone, should be "what it
is".
This is coming out superb, really liking the look of this (@ all who worked on this)
I agree with the above statement. The more saturated stone is nicer. I believe the less greyscale, the better. I also think the brick colors are cool. but something a little less uniform could look better. Maybe if some bricks looked inset.
That being said, I apologize for not putting out much work with the items these past few days. As I told some of my Epic bros, I'm in the process of moving into a new apartment and setting myself up at a new college. I haven't had a lot of time to barf up some new stuff lately. Soon, though, I'll have time again. I had a few minutes today to sit down and try out a new concept for the diamond tools; transparency.
Obviously, more depth-defining shading is needed for the shovel and I guess the pick too. This is just to see what you guys think of the transparent idea.
Saturated and darker stone definitely. I'm liking the new planks a lot more but I don't care much for the bricks. The new tools are lookin' pretty great. Is there anything I can contribute to this pack?
So, galago told me I'm to be working on the wools. Should I make them tile or should I border them? If unbordered, I'm not sure how I'm going to make them look all that nice, unless I give it a pattern like the patterned wool in Fiftyninercraft. (check the customizer to see what I mean!)
I've been a busy little bee myself today.
The product of the day's work, just Leo and me.
We've got the new planks (which I like but I suggest we overhaul the old ones because their design was cool), my repeaters, my note and music blocks, a dynamite pack (I'm pretty happy with it but let me know what you think), Leo's diamond block, and Leo's sides to my dispenser and furnace.
Kazam!
In response to the above:
- Diggin' the new tools quite a bit, I'd just adjust the colors to match our diamond ore.
- The default pumpkin should definitely stay, but Leo's nightmare fuel one should be an alt.
- Darker stone is a positive change.
- SMP, you're an amazing pixel artist. I definitely welcome whatever help you can bring to the table. If you have a Steam account, PM me your username (the one you log in with) and we can get you in the group and subsequently the chat room!
Oh, I did an iron ore as well. Here's the current ore set:
Lapis lazuli definitely needs to be changed to the actual lapis color, a dark blue. People will confuse it with diamond, and I think it will look nicer with a deeper blue tone. I think Thimontheluff did a color adjustment, but I don't have the file on hand.
Well I apparently got some time before I'm leaving at around 2 or something so yeah. Quick response to ..um everything lol
@planks
I know those are Leo's old planks which I see he edited a bit but I really don't think they match the pack at all as he gives all of his textures a damn purple hue cause of the shadows which just doesn't work well with the other textures.
@darker stone
I don't know how much darker it is as it's sort of hard to tell from the screenshots without seeing the old one as well. The reason the stone is light is because it compliments the darker dirt. Dark next to dark doesn't work well. I'm all up for a slight change in the saturation though.
@lapis
There's quite a big difference between it and the diamond colors and if we change it to a deeper blue then we'll have to change the damn lapis block as well which would look like **** as deep blue.
@note block
No offence but it looks extremely generic and boring. What you made some black dots and a opening at the top lol? Come on we can do better than that :tongue.gif:
@TNT
I really like stuff like the rope and the sticks themselves look ok, but again it looks sort of generic, and like we said before, we really want to give the users something interesting and unique to play with, otherwise they could just use one of the other dozen better texture packs. It would look better if it was placed in a wooden crate and there was some differentiation between the sticks.
@Diamond
Looks great, though it could be a bit more blue. I thought it was an iron block at first.
@repeaters
They could have some cool designs on them like the stone slabs or something running along the two sides parallel the torches.
@Tools
Awesome to see you back dirty :biggrin.gif:
The tools look awesome, just change the hue to be more similar to what the diamond is right now. Also, do you have a steam account?
@Iron
It looks really confusing and sort of sprawled about awkwardly. First of all, they're too big, the colors are weird, and the lighting seems off. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be indented or sticking out. They should be smaller like the lapis or something.
First off, I sent you (Galago) a message about the steam group.
Ok, bout the latest textures:
I agree with Lilyo for the most part, planks don't fit the theme too well but they do look great, noteblock and tnt as well, don't really seem to be themed, but they're still great looking textures. As for the ores, there seems to be 2 pretty distinct styles of ore there. There are the redstone, gold and iron which are embedded, and then the rest which aren't. They need to be made a little bit more similar in my opinion. (as in embedded or not embedded instead of both)
Apart from making them match a bit better, I think that the current lapis texture, once given the 'embedded' look could be perfect for the diamond texture!
We're definitely not embedding anything other than gold and redstone though, and there's no reason in having all of them be the same. Maybe the gold could use some work though to maybe make it look more like thinner veins of gold?

Well to be honest, I actually really like gold the way it is. I think it may be my favourite of the ores. Also, yea, they don't all need to be embedded, but they still need to feel a bit more like they are part of the same pack. I think it's mostly the coal and diamond at the moment that stick out. They need to be a little less cluttered.
I agree that the coal and diamond are too cluttered. I strongly disagree that the lapis would look terrible as a deep blue. I believe lapis to look best when deep blue, especially the block--look at Ovo's lapis block, for example.
Maybe the wooden planks could looker wetter, like they've been out in the dampness of the rainforest for a while.

Took this screenshot with SMP's grass/foliagecolor and it looks amazing! :smile.gif:
Everything looks dark and depressing now. I suggest we stick with the original idea of a higher contrast bright adventury jungle and try not to bring and dark rpg elements in it. We could do something like Doku did and have a light and dark version at the end.
It also looks like the stone is a bit too saturated in that screenshot. It blends with the dirt (I dont know how it looks next to the other dirt) a bit too much and everything just sort of looks washed out and boring.
I guess it's sort of hard to tell from the screenshot, I'll have to try out when I get back :tongue.gif:
But like, compare your screenshot with my bridge screenshot and I hope you can see the huge change of atmosphere. While the bridge screenshot makes me think adventury etc, your screenshot makes me think dark rpg which I find really boring as that was the only kind of pack i used to use before. Like I said, if you really like that we can have a "dark" version like Doku did. I hope I'm not sounding like a huge ass btw :c

I watched the video and maybe it's just hard to tell from this computer as its not my own and maybe the brigtness and what not is off but the ani looks a lot like the default? I dunno, like I said I'll have to wait till i get home to really see it better I guess.
Yeah I noticed it looked nice and smooth. Also the only complaint about your planks is that they seem a bit too dark (at least compared to the other version gal posed), but I guess you want to keep going with the dark theme. Did you also darken the sand and all that too lol?
You should totally work on the darker version if you want :biggrin.gif:
