Now I have noticed that many people these days are making simple texture packs such as 1x1, 2x2, etc. It happends to bother me that so many people do this, thus the reason I am writing this note. Please read this message before posting your "simple" creations;
There are easily hundreds of simple packs out there, the Minecraft Community does not need yet another one. If you want to make your own texture pack, go ahead, but I urge you to take time on them and to not spam the forums. Upon uploading your simple texture pack, you can expect mostly negative feedback. There are just too many texture packs created with no effort involved, these must be halted to a stop. Hell, there should even be a new forum for simple texture packs! If you agree with me, please let me know, because I am almost 101% sure that the community of texture pack artists is against these monstrous productions. If you are making a simple pack because you want to increase your FPS, sorry but it doesn't so ****. Read Thefiftyniner's study on FPS. Thank you for reading this brief note.
On another note, I'v also noticed that amateur texture pack artists are not uploading images with their downloads. People will not download them, simply because there is a possibility that it is a scam, a virus, or we simply aren't convinced enough. Simply head over to Imgur.com (or any other image hosting site), upload it and attach it. That simple.
I definitely agree with filtering the 'super-simple' TPs from the normal-res/actual detail ones, or at the very least, further categorization for the TP forums as a whole (split into realistic, themed, cartoony, abstract, etc.)

I agree with you. Some simple texture packs are good and well made, but some are made just because: "OMGZ!! i wanna maek textrure pack so ima maek one with nu texturs at all!! lololol!"
I'm glad you agree :smile.gif: Hopefully this message can be spread to every amateur TP maker.
Like paragon said, splitting it into a subforum would mean we should have subforums for categories of TPs. 'Course, I'd be fine with that.
Also, it's no excuse to upload a simple pack and say it's your first. My first isn't simple at all!
Well, in all simplicity(hah), it's pretty much true; there's way too many simple packs. The only solution would be to make subforums for the Texture Packs section, really.

People have their opinions, but Lilyo, I haven't seen a thread like this before that took action..
There's a difference between learning/starting out and putting in absolutely no effort. Although I don't make texture packs, I've picked up and done plenty of things and done something decent first time. The main thing that seperates me doing that from you making SimpleKraft011 is that I put in EFFORT. I wanted to make something to be proud of, not something to get my name on the forum.

I know exactly what you mean. As a texture pack creator, I once spend HOURS working on one grass texture. Yes, my whole day was wasted, but the grass texture was perfected. The feeling of creating an awesome texture is almost like no other (ok, I was exaggerating a bit, but you know what I mean).
but where do you draw the line? Are packs that take the original textures and change 2 blocks in the same category as "simple packs"? What about those x-ray packs? Are we just taking everything most of us don't like or frown upon and throw them all away?
Trust me when I say there's not going to be any new subforum for this section for a while. Maybe one day we'll have like an advanced texture pack area where only highly rated, popular, or recommended packs go in, but I don't think that'll happen anytime soon.
Till then, the only thing we need is more active mods (I don't think we even have any mods here anymore)

Thanks, but I don't know how to let them know. If enough people want it, it's possible.

You're obviously talking about packs such as these
