ha, thanks. They are all cobble though. I remember someone (who if I remember right visits the thread so he/she will probably claim this soon) mentioning that real cobble stone isn't plain grey. So I googled cobblestone, seeing as there is none in my area, and low and behold he is right. In fact grey is an oddity. so I tried to match the colors as much as possible without straying to far from the classic cobble

I was the one who said that, and thank you for taking my advice to heart! I love the multi-colored cobble. Can you show some screenshots of what it looks like in-game, on a large structure?
Protip: If you zip the terrain.png all by itself, minecraft will still recognize it as a texture pack. It's a good way to quickly test textures.

"That's not how things work. You stand up for what you believe in. You don't just silently choose the easy road." -Notch, on twitter.
I recommend increasing the contrast on the shadows on that cobble texture, to make the stones stand out a little more. There is also a tiling issue, though a minor one.
I have thought of making a texture pack the whole summer, but now school is starting tomorrow( :dry.gif: ),so that will be later, but i got some ideas....
Hmm, so I already have some feed back but what would you guys think of a themed pack with opposing forces? Light and darkness. So in essence a two packs or one pack with an alternate for every block? The light pack would be divine based and bright. Lots of golds, yellows, blues and whites. The Dark pack would be satanic in natures. Lots of reds browns and blacks.
I suppose the textures are okay, but the colors are insanely boring. Try not to use the colors in the original minecraft textures and come up with your own. :smile.gif:

I'm trying to keep it that way, but I'm going to make multiple versions of it!

I am considering either 32x or 16x for this pack.
That sounds like a great idea, but it sounds like it would work best at 32x. Let me know if you make that, because I'd probably want to use the Divine version a lot.
Maybe you could have downloads where the Nether has it of the opposite pack? So four versions total. Keep Aether the same as main. If you decide to include Aether support, of course, It seems like everybody is these days.

I was thinking 32x as well. I plan of putting the pack/s on the customizer or something. That way you can mix and match. I wasn't so sure about doing nether alternates though. There is a rumor that notch will be implimenting something like the aether in a future update. If he does than I would leave the nether as satanic and take the aether towards the divine.

You know what bugs me? When people try to make super realistic textures to the point of using photos, and get ores all wrong. Diamond does not come out of the ground looking like This, I'm pretty sure it's more like This. And lapis is not always all blue like in the default, sometimes lapis looks like This, with white and gold specks. That's my favorite kind of lapis, and I don't ever recall seeing it in a texture pack.

In gaming you toss out that sort of logic, even if making "realistic" graphics. No one thinks of diamonds as yellow gems, and to see one in a game would just add confusion. You have a point to a degree, but you also have to understand that making graphics easy to understand are a priority.

EDIT: Maybe I'm just oversensitive to them (which I am), but I think there might be tiling issues with the big stone on the left side of the texture.
Is the tiling issue the barely perceptible vertical line passing through some of the cobble? I just noticed that.
EDIT: And the thin horizontal line right under it.
What is my aesthetic? The only thing I've been able to come up with is black and white, stark typography. So here's the question:
How do I turn that into a texture pack?
