Ok, im new to making texture packs... I've search on youtube and google on how to make one... They have given me great tutorials... Only thing is, i don't want to over right the default one if i wanna change back to it... So, how do i do this?
Make a copy of the default and make your texture pack over that.
ok..., but all the youtube videos say is... To go into your bin and just edit all the png's. How can i make it so that i can just put it somewhere and its done?
You don't take the original one and overwrite it, you have to copy it. Since you get it from the .jar, you don't even have to extract it. Just open up the .jar, and drag it out of the archive.
It should automatically copy and paste it with that.
Now, open it up in your favourite image editor (one that supports transparency, such as paint.net or photoshop), and edit whatever you want.
Then, you have to zip it.
Simply chose one of the files, and zip it, then drag the rest of them into the zip.
Now drag the whole thing into your texturepacks.
And you're done.

Btw... make them with Adobe Photoshop or another professional drawing program, definitely not(!!!) use paint.
Dont ask me why... its just the way it is :a
