Ok, so I said I'd give more in-depth commentary, and I shall [try to] do just that.
First things first, I ran into some issues running your pack, and fixed it by resizing the sun and moon textures just a bit (from 300x to 256x). I'm pretty sure that almost all of the textures used in MC need to have dimensions equal to some power of 2 to run without bugginess. I resized it in Paint.NET without any noticeable loss of detail.
Now onto the textures...
Ok, the first thing that struck me was the GUI, It really is nice, the ornamental buttons and soul hearts are a subtle, yet still very flavorful touch. If you could continue something like that with the item hotbar (which is currently just a very dark grey), perhaps by adding some jagged lines, it'd put it over the edge (in a good way). Currently it is fine, though.
Now for those who haven't already seen, this TP changes the attitude of the basic blocks completely, immersing you in the surreal darkness of the Soul Eater theme. A pic to demonstrate this:
My McMansion Ala Soul Eater.
As you can see, things become darker and more subdued, this pack is definitely for those with an eye for subtlety. The shading of the grass is a plus; it is, in concordance with the rest of the pack, pale and subdued, having a tinge of some dark mysticism. However, the tree colors are a very outstanding green, which in this TP I don't like too much (you will see what I mean in a sec). Also notice that the reeds are a very bright green; seems out of touch with the rest of the pack. But I suspect that this is only a placeholder for something better in the near future.
Speaking of trees, I'm not sure if I like the birchwood trees too much...
The skulls just seem a bit inappropriate here, and now you can see what I mean about the tree color. But the tall grass is fine and blends in nicely, imo.
Now redstone looks great here. Both the ore and the circuit. I like the gaps :biggrin.gif: The beds have a nice sheet design as well, taking full advantage of the 16x resolution here.
Something I think needs some work is the note block; It seems to lack any suggestion of its function. Also, while diamond/gold/iron/lapis blocks look good, it'd be great if you did something to make it look a little more metallic, which I know is difficult at the current resolution, But...maybe I'm just nitpicking?
One of the nice little details I noticed was the skulls as smoke particles, I thought that was a very fine attention to detail.
I'm just trying to be constructive, it's not a super intimate review, but I wanted to add something a bit more thoughtful than "cool textures!"
About the hotbar GUI, I wasn't quite sure on what to do. The darkened version of the default is just a placeholder for now, really.
The leaves I have yet to recolor! ;o; How could I forget?
As for the birch log texture, I really like the pattern and the texture itself. If you could turn birch trees into birch logs, that's how they'd look. Perhaps in 1.8?
I agree, the redstone is awesome. Props to Caduceus for that one. :biggrin.gif:
Those were a few of the first blocks I did (I think?), so not much shading is present. Heck, I only recently put shading on the chest skulls, lol.
As for the note block, I made that texture with the default texture in mind; just really has a pattern all over. So I figured, why not make it a creative block and a decorative block at the same time?
The skull smoke is probably the thing I'm most proud of, it looks good in every place it appears and was one of the first ideas I had! :biggrin.gif: Thanks.
Thanks for taking the time to write this giant review, and thanks for sticking with this pack since the beginning. :tongue.gif:

Also, the thing about the reeds. Those are actually default. I'm guess some where along the way, they got screwed up, and for some reason, 2 reeds on the edges are gone. I fixed it right now, and it's going to be fixed in the new update.

I erased the outer two when I started working on a reed texture, then forgot about it. ;_;

Alright, more WIP update.
Just finished both mushrooms. Here is the brown one.
Here is both of them in the nether, where they look the best.
And here is a failed experiment, of trying to make the tall grass look better. This is the tree looking part of the tall grass, and I tried making it look like a tombstone. Unfortunately I forgot that the color of it comes from minecraft, not from the texture.

could totally do instead of tombstones, just make a bunch of tiny crosses, without the stone part, so its like grass but made of crosses(since the black stays mostly black)? might be asking alot in 16x, love the mushrooms too
also, did someone forget they were editing the glowstone or something? looks really...unfinished, hope it was just overlooked when updating.
but maybe im just being picky, could always make my own heh

Nope. People complained about the old glowstone, so I changed it. >n<
Those look good, Sou-err Caduceus :biggrin.gif:

Crosses won't be too hard to do. I just have to make sure that they don't look like the sapling. I can just get rid of the green part, and make the cross all black.
Well, there goes 20 minutes of shading the colors down the drain. :tongue.gif:

Alright, time for another update.
I worked a bit on the wool, and it looks better than the skull thing I had... uh, nevermind.
Here are some pics!
It fits well with the sandstone.
And I better not hear complaints about it being colorful. Even though it is a dark texturepack, wool still needs to retain it's color and look for construction purposes.
In the future, we may release an alternate texture, that uses the wool as objects instead of colors.
EDIT: Credit to whatsurnaym
He gave me a cool tip, that made making the wool, 10,000 times easier, and better.

Retired StaffCurrently, I worked on a few things. Still working on some stuff.
I re-did the repeaters, as they didn't look to good before.
As well as started on the mushrooms. This design is not final, so don't expect it to look perfect.
EDIT: Ignore the things in the background. Those are just my redstone projects.
This is the red mushroom, and the brown mushroom is going to be a witch's soul on a spear.
Since mushrooms are most commonly found in the nether, we decided that having them the souls of the evil, would fit in best.
