Does anyone know what types of texture packs need to be patched and what don't?
I'm talking 16x 32x and more.
If anyone could tell me I would be very grateful. :laugh.gif:

correction...anything that has custom textures that need resizing. Even 16x packs require some patching if you want to see everything the creator added.

You "Can" use a 32x pack without patching. However, there will be graphical glitches, so you should just patch and be done with it. Really though, if you want to use anything other than 16x you should patch.
Oh but if a 16x texturepack has altered water you also have to patch to see it
that is correct.
Also to end this argument. Considering the patch is a single download and like 2 clicks to get it working (if you are not trying to do it over mods and millions of other edits like some fools) i really don't see why its hard. If people to 2 min to read an OP before trying to install things 90% of 'problems' would be solved.
So yes anything with custom animation or is over 16x needs to have the game patched.

I think people should start hiding their download links in clever places just so people HAVE to read the posts.

Just a random comment, you can actually use hd texture packs without patching and there will not be any graphic errors, as long as you leave terrain.png and items.png as 16x
If you want to see any custom fire, water, lava, etc. that the creator added you would need to patch it no matter what size to see them.

the whole point of HD packs is so the terrain file is 32x or above and the items for that matter...
I see your point about mobs and paintings though... they are all scalable without patching.
