This is totally weird. My default texture has apparently MERGED with this pack. I try to redownload the .minecraft folder and I wind up with HD jungle leaves everywhere, but vanilla boats and signs. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?
uuuum.... no clue... people have been getting some really weird patcher errors... a lot of randomness period with 1.3.1... try downloading the latest version....
edit: made a custom texture for Rei's minimap mod... the round one at least... just used glass texture for square... but at least it's another matching mod texture set right? lol
oh.. spent the last couple hours fiddlin about with ore....
Yay, mod support begins! And I'm guessing multiple ore textures generated at random?BTW... is it bad that there are only 4 votes on your poll? (I voted yes, just for incase.)
yeah... fans of this pack don't like to give any feedback... it sucks... but the good news is, restoring the curse download has tallied another 500 downloads so far. I'm thinking a 64x download on curse would go like hotcakes. it really is great exposure.
and yes on the ore... it's set to random... you tell it a # on a 1-100 scale and it uses that number to factor the % chance of it being that texture on each side of the block. I have 4-5 normal ore set to 40 I think, and the other 3-4 alts set to 10... I think...lol I just threw those together in a rush to get the idea out... gonna work on it a bit before I release them.
and yeah...lol I had to skin Rei's minimap... I use it when I'm not running the shader mod, and it just didn't quite fit.
edit: and a note about slowing my updates.... I am going to try to hold to a schedule of updating by the end of every weekend.. (trying really hard to find a new job... losing more and more time to focus on the pack during the week) But don't worry... I have a lot of ideas when I'm trying to go to sleep...and will get back up to make it happen before I forget. (like the minimap at 2 a.m. lol)
it doesn't support the patcher or anything if that's what you mean... but does download and install HD packs just the same. (it downloads them directly to the right folder)
Experience wise, there were a lot of issues at first, but both the Bukkit and Curse admins/mods/devs have been extremely helpful in fixing those issues. ( even working with me and considering my opinions on how to make changes that will help everyone have an easier time of it in the future.) The wait time for packs to be approved is a hassle, but they go through and check every single time to make sure every file is virus free and not using stolen textures. (or a repost of someone elses pack)
There was a bit of a learning curve to posting there, but it's really straight forward and simple now. It's all modular. Description here, images here, files here, etc. Also, you post your changelog in the file description when you upload it... so it saves time really.
you just have to get used to posting on bukkitdev so it shows up on curse. (but that gets you more exposure, so it's not a bad thing)
All in all, I would recommend it... we need more packs posted there, especially HD packs so they can get more data to influence changes to the system.

I would much rather only have one download link to update if everyone is ok with it. (but if people ask me to keep the mediafire options available I will happily do so) but I need responses... mind reader is not in my list of talents.

Anyways, In my humble opinion, I'd leave both options up regardless because people like to do what is familiar too them and when things are too much work they won't do it, generally speaking, likewise it's nice for the people who don't want to sign up for Curse?
it is always a welcome sight when artists step outside their own work to converse and offer insight to others. I have been fortunate in that respect over the years, and am happy to add Develsaa to the list of talented and respected artists that have done so.
I treat others how they treat me and Grugsy has been nothing but kind so it's my pleasure to talk on his thread Additionally with such a massive fan-base I think it's great that there are artists that cater to peoples likes, because not everyone is going to enjoy the same thing.
@Develsaa: When you pm'd me you introduced yourself as a person....well... that isn't something you see much of on the internet these days. I respect that a lot. In the time I've been in this community, I've given and taken a lot of harsh criticism... and downright douchebaggery. (I'm the first to admit to being an asshole) But at the same time, especially in the beginning, people like Scuttles, Aageon, Misa, and Glimmar (to name a few...it's quite a big list!) helped me out tremendously and continue to do so. I try to pass that kindness on to anyone who is truly trying to make a great pack, or even just takes the time to ask. (and woe to those who work 30 min on a default edit or bucketfill and post that drivel) anyway...I ramble... I'm that guy you don't wanna hand the mic to...lol
