I've never had any issues with optifine until the latest version of it. and that's only with shaders installed. I'm thinking the addition of the natural textures mod is the culprit. I'm running the pack fine with the latest snapshot and mcpatcher though.... once curse approves the new download give it a shot and see if the issue persists. I'll install optifine again and see whats going on. are you using 1.25 or a snapshot? (I used optifine & shaders with 1.25 up until last week without issues.)
I'm using the most recent version of Optifine Smooth on minecraft 1.2.5. It shouldn't have anything to do with the fact I'm on a mac book pro, does it? By the way, thanks for your help and dedication to your followers. And if I'm going to start helping to design mod patches, I need a theme if it has one. And the designs won't be perfect.
BTW, if your using gimp, it's not terribly hard to shrink the resolution. All you really have to do is go to size and half the dimensions.
that's strange... I checked it out with optifine multi with the snapshot without issues.. what exactly is it doing for you?
and yeah...I use gimp, and cs5... I just don't want to take the time to resize everything every time I update... I did a 128x and 64x for a while, but it got annoying. 128 works ok, but 64x needs a lot of cleaning up..mainly correcting shading.
ummm... as far as a theme...lol I kinda got sidetracked on doing cool stuff with bump shaders and never really got the theme finished out. I'll flush out the out of place stuff, but I figure all the matching stuff like furnaces that are concrete would work really well as a start for a buildcraft theme. the pack started as concrete and wooden crates. and if you need the base textures they are all built off of I'll send em to ya. (metal, concrete and wood.. plus framing) I'm probably about to change the redstone wiring and sandstone, but it will fit a lot better. I'm also gonna throw the old concrete brick cobble back in.
the newest cobble, sandstone, etc is gonna be the base for a new theme/pack that is going to be a lot more fantasy oriented. I'm really feelin that vibe right now, and wanna roll with it. but I wont leave this unfinished. (well... terrain...lol I'm never gonna get the items and mobs done for it.)
changed the sandstone to be a little more buildable.... playing with the snapshot made me realize how horrible it looked in game..lol desert villages were crazy looking. also thinking about officially going back to the original concrete brick looking cobble to better flush out the modern theme of the pack. I don't want to leave this undone, but I really do want to move on to a more comic style.
if anyone else besides Axidrion wants to come in and help make textures for the advanced building mods let me know and I'll send you the base textures. (and help out where I can... I'm really unfamiliar with those mods though) I'm really stoked that anyone wants to do it at all..lol and would like to see what you guys can come up with.
I've been following this texture indirectly science Beta 1.6, and I still feel that this is one of my favorite texture packs, that and Affinity. Speaking of which, I really like the redstone in affinity. Yours seems just a little bit bland. Plus the nether brick and/or nether rack could use an animation of lava pulsing through the cracks. And if your going back to the concrete bricks, maybe lighten up the hue of the stone, and maybe even a BROWN stone... I do like the theming though once you can kinda figure it out.
and screens... upload them to imgur and post the bottom left link. (when you click on the uploaded image)
edit: and thinking about it... I DID do a brown stone and cobble originally. lol everyone said to make it not brown... and then bitched about the white concrete (which still has a hint of brown) so..lol idk. I would really like to go back to the concrete from my first pack honestly, but I didn't want to reuse anything. (great job I did with that! lol) well..a similar texture...that pack was horrible..lol
and thank you for reminding me of Affinity...I loved that pack... and yeah... best redstone ever.
honestly I have no idea what to do with it... but I'm gonna toss around a few ideas today..and work on replacing the wheat.
On the topic of your pickaxe, I absolutely love it except for one tweak: the blade. Instead of having a perfectly cone shaped blade, have it more Jagged and rough. Make it a little bit more imperfect.
that is weird... have you tried just using mcpatcher? (i know... everyone is picky! lol)
and on the topic of the pickaxe... I'm working on that...lol I am teaching myself to do the 3d modelling for skyrim in cinema4d and 3d's max... it's a slow process. I may cheat a bit on the minecraft versions though and just draw them in 2d..lol
Ready for this... the MCpatcher download has been acting up. How ironic. I'll try again... but no guarantees. And I REALLY don't understand what the texture is doing. It completely f***** my tree up. Once I can get it to work, I'll really get started on basic concepts for mod textures.
last idea for the day... solid tops on the half blocks and cobble that is consistent with the rest of the pack. (other cobble is going into a new theme/pack)
got an early start today... I continued on the path I was taking, making all the building materials match, brought back the old stone, made a new version of the old concrete cobble to match the others' style, made the top of the halfblock solid (remade it) and fixed the weird tiling of the sides, made a new cake finally... went gamer with it... I know it's cliche but I don't care... it fits. I think the theme of the pack now fits what it was originally intended to be and other than not knowing what the hell to do with the potion stand and wheat, I'm happy with it. So unless I get some new ideas for them before next week I'm gonna call this the official 1.3 update. I'll be making a new video sans shaders and taking a bunch of new screens for the op. If anyone feels kind enough to help out with that I would be most grateful. I love seeing other peoples builds. (almost all my screens come from a compilation world)
all I need to do is make an emerald ore to match the stone and I'll be ready to upload... so look for the 1.3 version sometime this afternoon done.. had an old ore idea that fit the stone perfectly. (to all the polkadot stone haters, this is the reason I like it... it has enough texture to add ore and make it look natural.) I also lightened up the black wool so it didn't look like the obsidian, and added a bevel to the ore blocks so they aren't so flat. uploading now, so pending approval time the download of 2.02 should be there soon. I'll change the thread title to 1.3 when it's there.
I am really digging the redstone design. It looks like an actual circuit. The pickaxe is nice too. But what about the other tools? Have you started those yet? I found some really cool sword designs via google.
havent started the others yet... I have a couple designs I did for skyrim that I may adapt for mc though.. still planning on using the pick as the base for the hoe and axe.. thinking the same thing I was with the new redstone, completely modular and easy to mod.
aaaand...still waiting on approval for the update.
and thank you for getting me motivated to complete some of this stuff!!
No problem bud. It may be a while before I can get the mod support concepts though. Minecraft is just being dumb for me this week, and I have plans for the next couple of weeks. I've got a good idea for the textures though. I'll still try and follow the development and make suggestions.
edit: Oh yea, about screenshots... a few things. Could you get a few screens of the temples/ruins? And remember my tree?//i.imgur.com/MlThF.png" width="" height="" alt="" />" width="" height="" alt="" />
on standard textures.
