sorry for vanishing all of a sudden with a half finished update... life got crazy. I'm not back yet, but once things get turned right side up again I will work on getting a much improved pack released.
got motivated to mess with the pack a little over the past couple of days... wanted to change one texture and ended up remaking a bunch again...lol if anyone wants the test I'm working on lemme know and I'll upload it.
uploading it now... check main dl link on op. as always, if anyone wants previous textures/versions to customize, just ask... I haven't had the time to archive them yet. (totally geeked out on modding skyrim...look for me on the nexus very soon)
@anyonereading: I'm on a roll with figuring out how to use/take advantage of 3dsmax and have some great ideas for this pack now.... gonna totally redo most of the pack drawing directly on a 3d surface.. which means I can totally do items/mobs now... thank skyrim for it..lol anyway,
my first attempt at creating a weapon for skyrim if anyone cares. (not finished or posted yet)
got motivated to play around with the pack some more... made a few tweaks...changed around a few blocks, added a couple plank textures... working on more... and slowly but surely getting all the alt textures onto one sheet for everyone...lol
anyway... download link is updated... all new textures GLSL ready as always.
alright folks, finally got around to updating more! I got the last plank texture in, and finally put together the start of the alt textures. I put those in a separate zip which includes the alt texture sheet and the old water animation.(if I didn't copy the wrong files... I'll check em and fix it if I did...I'm tired..lol)
so...alt textures include almost all of the ores and stone I have made since the start of this pack, and the current so you can change back..lol also the best of the alien themed pack I was toying with before, and some textures from my first pack that I will be reworking in the near future for those few people that still follow me from back then. I LOVED the furnace/dispenser and want to build a more industrial theme around those like I originally planned with the first pack, but with the knowledge I have of texturing now.
so...in going back to pull older versions of the pack from my mediafire archive folder, I realized that even without an active group of followers or comments to keep my pack on the first page, I have still totaled well over 20k downloads since it's conception(my mind got baffled and I lost count). I know I'll probably never get back to the 5k in one day I got for the 1.8 update, but I'm not nearly as active as I was back then. I'm not bragging or anything... it's just that seeing those numbers made me smile: knowing that I have done something that may have brought enjoyment to that many people. So, for those few of you loyal fans, and to everyone new to the pack, thank you all for downloading and making me smile!
/end rant
on a side note, working on some more stuff... been playing a lot the last few days.. going to rework part of the color palette again, and maybe throw some more new textures in. (or old ones for that matter... reworking the original realistic ore/stone to get rid of the dots. those were my fav.)
ok..so.. geek'd out and spent the last 12 hours or so with a couple pots of coffee and turned out a bunch of stuff. so.. I reworked the original stone texture and the ores like I said. I made the diamond, lapis, and iron a lot more visible, and smoothed out the tiling of the stone texture. I made new vines...at least I'm testing out an idea..the old ones were always a placeholder. I touched up the stone bricks, and did moss the right way this time...no more cheap green recolored stones..lol (discovered a nice combination of brushes that work really well imo.) I also made a brand new rpg'ish cobble texture that I REALLY like. It was inspired by Ovo's Rustic...I think his was always the best. I'm still working on the seams where the top of the block meets the sides. and I'm stoked about how the mossy cobble turned out. I also got rid of that uber shiny iron door. no more google photo..I made a new one from scratch.
Anyway.. screens below... I'm gonna work on getting all the placeholders out of the pack (wheat, saplings, end stone stuff) and replace the horrible start to an enchanting table before I update again... but I'll probably get caught up with the snapshot additions as well. expect it in a couple of days... unless someone want's the new stuff now. PLEASE gimme some feedback on the recent changes... I KNOW how many ppl have downloaded the pack lately! lol
edit: oh...and I'm bringing back the sparkly gravel...I feel like the pack is incomplete without it. kind of a signature texture...lol
progress note: ok,.. so, as much as I'm diggin the new cobble textures (I made 4 more to match! lol) they just don't fit with the main theme of the pack, sooooo... I am going to make a full on rpg version... but first I want to finally get the main theme done and over with. (until it needs updating again) so... I have decided that instead of cobblestone I am going to go back to my first packs idea of it and use concrete..(which will totally match everything else perfectly.)
and yes, I know... I ramble on to the 0 people that actually read my posts... but It's my thread, and well... this is more productive than a bump.
edit: also, I am officially on Curse now! If the issues I am having with uploads going wonky get worked out, I will be moving my download link to Curse. (and hopefully the client very soon! can we say automatic updates anyone?)
alright... texturing marathon hour 28... I'm done...coffee stopped working. lol gonna pick this back up tomorrow... I know what I'm doing with everything except the end portal and cocoa plants.. I just spent the last couple hours finally making the furnace/piston/etc textures symmetrical(gotta fix the normals for them now). also changed the bricks to match and line up with them for aesthetic building, and lowered the contrast. I made the wools more vibrant, changed the circle stone to match the new cobble, and worked out how to keep it for now(bricks). got the design for the enchanting stuffs started and also the new sandstone blocks designed. I also have an idea for the wheat that is gonna be totally out there like the flowers.
finished up last nights work...and got some more done. only issue is new sandstone looks weird when you find it naturally... but it's nice to build with.. looks good for temples. anyway...on to screens.
Warning: Until further notice, this is a bare bones version. Ran into a permission issue, so any textures that were on loan are not there. (except some of misa's,Scuttles' which I have always had well documented permission for!)
@william188325 : I make a lot of changes and have a lot to say, I'm not posting every 5 min's just bumping my thread like some people do( I even make a point to wait a few hours between them, or only post twice a day most of the time). It's always relevant. if you don't care to read the updates and double posts, ignore my thread. simple.
edit: almost got this all cleared up. just waiting to hear back from Adriorn with a new permission message. (too lazy to go through that many messages/diff. thread posts) changed the links in the op to include Von Doom Craft, for the use of the items.png.
I'm pretty sure everything is cleared up now.... I'm still working on a few things, so I'll try to have the pack updated by the weekend... but for now I'm leaving the pack up as is.
This is a great Texture pack! Hope my computer doesn't implode horribly when I try to use it-I need to have Optifine with this! I do think you should make a 64X64 optional Texture Pack, though.
I had lower rez versions at one point, but as much/randomly as I change stuff up, it got to be too much. it was a lot of work for no profit. but... big but... I'm gonna give curse rewards a chance, and if I get good download numbers and enough requests, I may be inclined to do 1 lower rez.. 64x would be it since it's middle ground and the shaders still look ok at that size. look for a major change/update maybe tomorrow.. as soon as the newest version of the pack is up on curse.
I'll post/change the op/ etc. once I have the file up.
@imnumberfour : It's always a double edged sword for me when I get comments like yours. I'm all stoked because I have another artist/pixel art afficionado that is a fan of the pack... but then I'm bummed because they can't enjoy it in game where the reason behind the size of the pack really shines.I am however testing out how well I like it running at 64x with an older version someone converted... I have to readjust a bunch of things, and it is a lot of work. (I suck at pixel art!) I am really thinking about it, and ways to alter out some finer details that just don't re-size well. I don't want to put out another fast re-size as is... but doing a 64x version might bring more smooth back to the title of the pack..lol
@everyone : updated the op...finally. I need a good new video that shows off the pack with and without shaders running... but something more spectacular than a test track. If anyone is good with vids/does reviews I would be much obliged for submissions.
