uploading my master file as the update for now, so you guys can experiment with the mod textures and see where I'm going with them.... there are a lot of unfinished textures in there so bear with me. give me any ideas you may have about what you would like to see with them.
it's the V2.08 zip. I'll release it to Curse after the holidays and get a proper download posted without all the extras.
Had a shipping mistake with my stylus, so there is a delay on getting the items done... but I'll be on it asap.
I'm with you man.... it makes no sense sometimes. My pc is a bit outdated, but it still meets the mid-range specs for Crysis 3. (ran Rage on full settings like butter, and Skyrim with a massive HD texture overhaul + 183 mods with minimal framedrop)
I can't even load my 256x without 2gig min allocated to java... add forge + mods and shaders on top of that..I run it with 4gig and it's still laggy sometimes. but ram has nothing to do with it... minecraft is limited to a single processor core, and that is at best limited to 2gig of memory. the added ram only acts as a bigger cache but does not help performance. (I think I understand this right...lol)

183 mods in skyrim, to me that would kill my game, i have about 20 or so with problems. fo3 has about 50+ and can be a crash fest.
but same here, add the shaders and the poor game is brought to it's knees. i have optifine with multicore setting, i have 4 cores it does help a bit but java seems very limited. i don't know java code or any for that matter, so i go from what i see. raising the ram in minecraft never seemed to do much, but i use magic launcher to adjust ram.
I have a knack for getting a ridiculous amount of mods to work together without any coding knowledge at all.
I got frustrated with FO3... too many bugs. even with a pristine load order and proper boss optimization random crashes abounded.
back on topic....
optifine's multi core chunk loading helps a bunch, but it is still lacking imo.
this is an issue that is going to have to be dealt with at the source, so here's to hoping the engine re-write they are doing to accommodate a completely modular plug&play file structure will include optimizations in the ability of the game to handle so many packets at once without running out of resources so easily. I think adding hd texture and animation support to the game prior to the re-write will give them ample time to see what needs to be done about this when they start building the new engine/api.
on topic...on topic.... relevant words.....
I haven't spent much time with the 64x.... lemme know if you find anything out of place or buggy.. and any suggestions on textures are welcome.
here's some of today's work. colored bricks, desired blocks, witches and more, custom stuff, amazopack, chimneys..... went back to the old cobble for bricks... like it or not... I can't stand bricks... but I can live with these with all the options. used all the textures from the alt sheet for most of these. finally found a use for them. aaaand.. barrels!!! not the cauldron!
ok...so... after all this time... they finally refunded the stylus, apparently it took a month to let us know it was out of stock and not replaceable. unfortunately, the refunded money was spent immediately to cover bills... so it may be a while before that expense can be covered again.
if you guys wanna see this pack progress as planned, or are just feeling generous.... I'm asking you, please donate.
I'm really sorry about this, and equally bummed out about it.
Looks like a great texture pack. One problem: I have so many texture packs (including OCD pack, KaniCraft, BatAs Realistic, Soartex, Sleek Gui, Ianson Texture Pack etc. I'm losing track of the ones I have!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I once was told I could be anything... I became a creeper... Now everybody hates me... Story of my life.
ok... so I got a really good deal on a graphics pad from monoprice. it's awesome! works with every software suite on the market.. so... here is the tosser.... should I continue updates to this pack in the same style, or do I spend a little time learning to use my new tool and start a new stylized pack that is mostly hand drawn?
well... after some real time thinking about this, I have decided to take a little time to accustom myself to the pad and stylus, and see what I can come up with. I think I am going to start by doing some concept art over my best screenshots from the game and see where it goes from there. until I get my brain past that goal, this pack is going to be discontinued.
I'll start a thread in discussion to chronicle my progress maybe, and possibly do some beginner tutorials when I figure out how to do some cool stuff. I have a lot of ideas I wanna get out of my head, and new stuff I want to try... but this pack limits my options too much at the moment creatively.
I'm going to be experimenting with sculpting in mudbox, which will let me have more control over texture depth and shading... and will eventually mean I can do what I originally set out to do with this pack. just not yet.
I apologize to anyone still actively using this pack, but I need a break from it for a smooth minute.
ok...so I guess I owe you guys an update on whats going on... shortly after my last post, my power supply blew... a bunch of craziness happened... life took a turn for the terrible.. started a new job... and moving soon... as soon as I get moved I will get my comp fixed and get back to the pack full force. I want to see it complete, and have been itching to get it done. expect an update before the year is out.
Sorry to necro my own thread after so long... but I wanted to leave a note for anyone that may be interested in using the textures for the pack. Go for it I say. All of the original files are gone, so what you see is what you get now. I lost everything with my old pc, I had to leave it's broken shell behind when I moved, along with the possibly bricked hard drive all the original files were on.... so if anyone has a use for whats here, put it to good use. just don't take credit for my hours of work teaching myself how to do this to make these textures.

download should be avail. in about 10 min.
but minecraft has always been an oddball like that. i can run fo3 on high, but minecraft is finiky.
