Hello everyone! I've been playing Minecraft for awhile now, and I figured I'd start making texture packs and mods and the like, but I ran into a little problem with making the texture pack, and I need help!
I just need to know how to make it into a Zip file that can be downloaded and used, right now I just have all the .png's in a folder on my desktop... But anyway, a little help would go a long way!
Okay now, when releasing a texture pack.zip, do I want a copy of the .Jar WITH the texture pack in the zip file?
Kinda confused on how it should be too be compatible with the game, right now I just backed up and replaced my jar file..
What you want to do on WINDOWS, select all of the texturepack files and folders, right click->Send To->Compressed (zipped) folder. Then name that as your texture, and upload that to your favorite file sharing site, I like using MediaFire, but it's a personal preference. If you need anything else just ask and I'll try to help :smile.gif:
EDIT:After you Compress it, that's what you use as your texture pack in the .minecraft folder. You go to AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/texturepacks, and just add that .zip to that folder

To answer this one, instead of repeating on how to zip it.
Well the files you need is not the whole minecraft.jar file
just terrain.png, and the Mobs/GUI, Armor, What ever files you changed. I cant remember all the Texture Pack files. but if you only changed the terrain.png then you only need to zip that file up. Hope that makes sense
Thanks guys! I'm pretty sure I've got it all figured out, and the texture pack im making is just a polish, it's for people who like the original texture, but dont want to change it tooo much. it looks really good so far, and i'll post it when I can.
I will probobly upload through Adfly, cause then I make a bit of money, not too be selfish or anything... but it would help.
Adfly would be nice, if you're in US you make nearly $5 for every 1000 clicks, which isn't very much but it's something. If you don't know what to do, you upload the file to Mediafire or whatever, then put that link on adfly, then they give a new link, and that's what you want to link to.
