I've been working on a texture pack lately, brick-themed. I'm far from done, but i'm coming there.
Anyways, I need help choosing ore texture. I have made a couple of them, but if you have some other ideas, please let me know.
Hoping you can help, and also hoping you like it :smile.gif:
04hockey: Thanks! Done.
AH1684: You'll have to wait :wink.gif: If I remember, I can probably send you a PM.
CursedDiamond: Thanks! Done.
04hockey: Yeah, sure :smile.gif:
- make gravel look like broken bricks
- give the spots of your ores different types of tha color:
diamond: blue,light-blue,dark-blue,... (it will give a cooler effect if you do it good)
- make glowstone the same as regular stone with some golden bricks, so it looks like they glow
if you expand your thread and make more updates i can provide some support like a banner in my recent thread(see signature),if you put my banner in yours to then XD
good luck and good job :tongue.gif:
Yeah, it probably is better. Gimp lacks a lot of stuff, and I especially hate the extra windows. Toolbox etc.
I'll give it another shot :tongue.gif:
So far this is what sand and gravel looks like. Sand is probably okay, but gravel is just not good. It blends in with stone too much, its hard to tell which is which from a distance. Same with cobblestone, but that's a different story.
I can try to do what you say, master. Gravel, ores and glowstone is on the workbench.
I was surprised by the amount of nice responses, from MC forum and other places. I could make another thread with updates etc. We'll see.
Different colored diamond ore:
I have no idea how to make it look good..
Glowstone:
I made one earlier, but again, I have no idea if it looks good. The same for the brick one.
The brick one probably looks too much like the gold brick ore. (added pic of it)
Looking great! Although here's my suggestion: Put a little drop shadow from the bricks on the coloured chips in the ores.
Then it looks like the bricks contain the ores, but it is trapped inside, and you have to mine it out!
I like the higher contrast gravel.
For the glowstone I would combine the top one and the bottom one. Make the middle of the yellow bricks lighter like the one on the bottom and the outer part dimmer like the bottom ones to make it look like it glows. I would make the grey bricks brown like the outside of the glowstone below.
I'm not a big fan of the rightmost one because it not really bricks.
I would love to see what you will do with the mobs. That would look so cool.

super nice pack tell me when its done!
Well, I was thinking of BrickCraft, BrickPack or something. Gotta get some help with that one ^^
Also decided to make both ore types. Will be able to choose when downloading.
You see that green button with the plus? You dont have to click it, and I am not gonna force you to do it.
And isnt it ****** great when Gimp crashes and deletes every ore I made.. Second time its crashed today :sad.gif:
Oh well, bed time :smile.gif:
*(coughs while saying paint.net)*
I deleted paint.net a few days ago, sorry :sad.gif:
Just so different from gimp. I've tried, but its hard to get used to it.

Gravel:
Higher contrast made it look better imo. Though cracked/broken stone didn't go well.
Higher contrast:
Cracked stone:

Probably a bit too dark imo.
I tried. But I dont know if I did it right.
Then you know more than me.
I'll look at it tomorrow. Gotta get some sleep :b
