Ok, I'm going to try to keep this short. I've downloaded the pack before, great pack, I love it. Problem is, my computer has just been fixed after having several viruses and I'm trying to be more careful now. My parents bought some anti virus software and when you google something it tells you whether the site is safe or not. I typed in painterlypack.net and BOOM. It says its not a safe website. So, I was wondering, could someone test the website, or tell me if its safe or not or something? I'm not looking for a "its probably safe" I have to be 100% sure because I do not want to get another download.
TL;DR: Can I safely download painterly without getting a virus?
EDIT:Ok, new problem. When I go to the customize page, it doesn't load. It loads the paragraph about how to use the customizer, but nothing below that loads and it does not respond so I have to do the END NOW thing.
I haven't used painterly back but one time and that was before the 1.6.6 update. It's just a set of images though so it shouldn't be a problem at all. I don't see how there could be a virus at painterly. It's a safe download in my opinion, as for the website itself. There is probably a false positive (fake virus) that your protection is giving you because of the massive amount of cookies it requires to put in your computer when you CREATE a pack so that you can come back and change it up.
Ok, thanks thats kinda what I thought but I'm trying to be reaaaaallllly cautious. I probably won't go to it until I'm 100% sure though (if i get a virus im dead meat, not to mention i won't be able to play minecraft)

The Painterly pack is perfectly safe. Its a legitimate website and texture pack. Your anti virus itself could be a virus. I know at least 3 friends who downloaded an anti virus which in turn kept saying they had a virus and when it offered to remove the virus it messed up their computer more. They had to clear their computers because they couldnt remove the software. Im not saying that thats what you have but its a possibility. Search on google about your anti virus and see if its legit. But nonetheless the Painterly Pack has no viruses.

*facepalm* well the good news is that if it is from best buy it is a legitmate antivirus. The bad news is that you bought it from best buy lol
But in any case, I would assume that your antivirus detection is a false positive, and it would have to do with the amount of cookies stored on your pc in order to make the pack on your own.
EDIT: I see that this was already posted above. ?ninja'd
Yes, I think we can all clearly say the most popular and known pack ever made does NOT have a virus.
But on the other hand, you should seriously watch out for that doku guy. He's gotten me this virus that makes Minecraft look beautiful.
Watch out, bro.
I lol'd too
EDIT: To make this post more useful; I'm going to add that I — in my personal and professional opinion — would recommend AVG free antivirus protection software. It does its job when you download stuff that could harm your computer but as far as site protection they have quite a large database on approves and unapproved sites. If you're willing to pay for it though I wouldn't bother. It's just the best free protection I know of.

Screw whatever Anit-Virus software you parents got you, look for Avira AntiVir. Download the free version, set it up. PainterlyPack.net is completely safe and so is the download.
BTW, this is Painterly; so if you don't like my pack, you can always make one of your. And refresh yours often; They tend to add/ change textures a lot....
Did the texture pack ever work out for you? Also, there are a few good free antivirus programs. I've used Avast and AVG and they are both excellent programs.
Whenever i see someone worried about getting a virus a grin goes across my face. I like having a mac.
I figured I'd see a post like this. Mac owners feel like they are immune to viruses, which is untrue. They are immune to pc viruses. They aren't immune to mac viruses. Nobody cares about hacking macs or making viruses macs becuase so few people have them. That whole advertising campaign is a load of ****.
Even if it were true, I'd rather be running Crysis 2 in Directx 11 with tesselation and risk having viruses than have an overly priced word processor and web browser...

Pre-OSX, there were tons of Mac viruses. That's because they had half market share, as opposed to now, where coders don't really bother writing viruses for macs because it's pointless when such a small number of people use them, which is not really something to brag about. The main purpose of viruses is server and database infiltration, and practically 99% of servers and databases are linux and windows-based.
Liking macs for what they are is fine, but try to understand that this kind of undeserved snobbishness is why
people generally gain their dislike of apple and their fans.
And don't be silly, painterly pack is perfectly safe.
That anti virus they bought you must be pretty shitty considering its behind norton. Get kaspersky, i've had it for 4 years now and its the best one you will ever have. NEVER did i get a virus with this. Suspicious about this one mw3 key generator you just downloaded? no problem, right click > scan > look at the threat number. It'll show a false alert once in a years.
