Science craft, which is white themed and shows the world as super modern. such as, reeds could be pure data, paper could be flashdrives, books could be hard drives, and so on
Patch craft, which shows the minecraft world as completely wool.

The problem isn't that they're "simple" or "clean." There's only really one issue here: Laziness, immaturity, and the indignant reactions these 12-year-olds have when called on it. It isn't that they're making packs in a few hours, it's that they aren't putting any effort into it when they do. The problem is texture packs with no thought or effort behind them taking over the forum.
And, of course, this isn't a solvable problem. People are basically the same everywhere, and when you have a playerbase with vast swaths of 12-16 year olds playing it, you get the entitlement and immaturity that goes with it. Not everyone that age is this bad, don't think I'm saying they are. It's just that entitlement and laziness run rampant among those who've never had to work to live.
So while I agree that it's an issue, and I agree that you guys are ****in' funny (seriously, great thread), it's not going away because people are people. And people, as a whole, are stupid, lazy, and self-centered. And that's just the middle of the bellcurve.
Minecraft fans tend to fit into at least one of a handful of categories: People who love it because they're creative (texture pack makers build some cool ****), obsessive nerds, programmers and other people in computer-based industries (such as graphic designers), immature teens and tweens, and people who think Notch is such a sweetheart he deserves their money.
The teens buy it because it's cheap, and therefore easy to earn on a few hours of minimum wage work / easy to get 20 bucks from mom.
