Nobody ever posts on my Fiftyninecraft thread any more.. :'(
All my hard work, nobody ever cares.
I gave you a bump (and a few pieces of constructive criticism) for charity.
And what do you mean no one posts there any more? You got several hits in the last few days. Two of my packs almost never get bumped unless I update them.
It's not like everyone out of the hundreds of people who view your thread daily will really have anything to say though. Think about it, do you always comment on youtube videos or like, say when you download a game or program or something, do you take the time to go to their forums and post some feedback or anything like that? (bad examples but whatever lol)
We all see downloading something as supporting whoever made it and unless we really like (or dislike) it or have some suggestions, which not everyone does, then there's nothing to post about.
Bumpmaft is still my nr.1 pack: looking at my download rate around 3000-4000 a day, but it has hardly any comments since it's updated. While Nature's Lust has almost 50 pages of comments in less than a month.
People are lazy creatures, they don't have to login to see the links. So they won't bother to make an account or to post a comment.
Only a small percentage take the effort.
Truer words are rarely spoken.
What's funny though, is that the lack of bumps me and my bro's texture pack gets motivates us to create new things so we have to bump with new content. It's a cycle that seems to govern itself, if you think about it.

True, I think I have commented twice total in my time as a youtube watcher and, sadly, my primary motivation when I started posting feedback on texture packs was to promote my own.
Speaking of which. I need to re-apply for texture pack central and do it correctly this time.

I've always taken the number of downloads as the barometer for how well my stuff is doing anyway. But getting reviews is what motivates me to work-- if just one person says 'wow, I like this, I want to see more!' then it makes me want to create more stuff so that I'll have more to show them.
The problematic thing is: "wannabe" Artists. People who don't have the skills to create content, okay you can learn, but don't post it on modding forums.
I worked on alot of mods/textures for other games in the past and those communities where much tighter and attracted actual skilled people and strive to create good content.
This was the case in October - December last year. There was hardly a bad texture pack on this forum.
Now alot of good content makers drown in the sea of crap and all because Minecraft is so easy to modify.
Not that it's a bad thing ofcourse. :smile.gif:
I only miss those months and that's why I left the forums months ago.
agreed, I think the best thing a prospective texture pack artist can do is get feedback from friends BEFORE he/she posts it online. Drawing is not something that comes naturally to most people, like me, but most people can learn how with practice. That doesn't mean you need to inflict your practice on other. As I am writing this post I suddenly had a though. The mods for minecraft have two forums. One for WIPs and one for Released mods. I think we should do the same for texture packs. That way people can get feedback from the community BEFORE officially releasing the pack. This may reduce the clutter a bit and it will help new artist get feedback.

All of my packs are WIP. Unlike for mods (which need a lot of bug testing and development time) I don't think that there should be a separate section for in-progress texture packs. About 90% artists (including me) release their packs before they're completely done so that they can have installment updates to keep it bumped. Because if they didn't have updates to post, I guareentee that the good packs would all sink like a bunch of rocks, even more so then they do now.

hmm, also a good point...
I guess the only real solution is for us to band together and work at keeping the good packs in the spotlight.

9 million or so players to 6000 or so texture packs...
Yeah, but not everyone likes using texture packs. Or even knows they exist. I spent two months playing minecraft before I stumbled across this forum and realized that the game didn't have to look shitty. ^^
Insane amount? Not really :smile.gif:
It's not only posted here and it's really popular in Germany and Japan, also it's one of the longest 128x packs around.
So you can leave out the rolleyes, I don't need your sarcasm. :smile.gif:
The lowest rate I got this month was 1290 on one day.
The HIGHEST I've gotten on ANY day was half of your lowest.

Well, I mean, 3-4k a day is a pretty insane amount if you consider that that's 3-4,000 NEW people downloading your pack every day. Obviously, those numbers will eventually drop, considering there's just only so many people in existence. I'd say you still ought'ta be proud of yourself there. Don't beat yourself up. The grass is greener on the other side. Don't go chasing waterfalls.
I've ran out of generic **** to say.
Indeed :smile.gif: but an update occasionally is the trick to boost it again. :biggrin.gif:
Advertisment is key to texture packs these days. You can sell people **** and some still want it if it's presented well.
You gotta make people want it. :smile.gif:
I kowtow before you in supplication.
Please take me as an apprentice in your advertising ways, oh master. I wish to learn how to become insanely popular.
You guys remember that joke pack that somebody made that was literally just a pencil filter? It was a few pages back. http://www.minecraft...pencilcraft-hd/
Somebody seriously made it and put it out as a pack. :sleep.gif:
Gotta be ****ing kidding me
and he ad.fly'd it too
